A "Diplomatic Summer" in the Carmelite Curia
On the 6th of July, the Assistant Ambassador and person in charge of the Political Office of the German Embassy to the Holy See, Dr. Bernhard Schlagheck, invited the Vice-Prior General, Fr. Christian Körner, O.Carm., to a working lunch in order to hear about the presence of the Carmelite Order in the world and about the central administration of the Order in Rome.
On the 11th of July Fr. John Keating, O.Carm., Councilor General for Europe was invited by the Ambassador of Austria to the Holy See, Dr. Alfons M. Kloss and his wife, together with the Rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Directory of the Centre for Laity (Foyer Unitas) and a member of the Anglican community in Rome to a meeting in the Austrian Embassy.
Finally, on the 10th of August, the new Ambassador of Spain to the Holy See, Doña María Jesús F. López-Palop paid a visit to the Carmelite Curia. After a long conversation in private with the Prior General Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., the Ambassador was welcomed by the other members of the Curia with whom she shared her first impressions of Rome and her projects for the cultural activities of the Embassy. The Prior of the community, Fr. Christian Körner, O.Carm., told her about the historical origin of the complex around the Curia (the Titulus and the Domus Ecclesiae in the time of the Roman Empire, the medieval basilica of S. Martino ai Monti and the new buildings, etc.) The whole visit took place in a very relaxed and cordial atmosphere and the Ambassador promised that it would not be her last visit to the Curia.

“Verano diplomático” en la Curia General
El pasado 6 de julio, el vice-Embajador y Responsable de la Oficina Política de la Embajada Alemana ante la Santa Sede, Dr. Bernhard Schlagheck, invitó al Vice Prior General, P. Christian Körner, O.Carm., a un almuerzo de trabajo para informarse acerca de la presencia de la Orden en el mundo y la administración central de la misma en Roma.
El 11 de julio, el P. John Keating, O.Carm., Consejero General para Europa, fue invitado por el Embajador de Austria ante la Santa Sede, Dr. Alfons M. Kloss y su esposa, junto al Rector de la Pontificia Universidad Gregoriana, La Directora del Centro del laicado (Foyer Unitas) y un miembro de la Comunidad Anglicana de Roma, a una reunión informativa en la Embajada de dicho país.
Por último, el 10 de agosto, la nueva Embajadora de España ante la Santa Sede, Doña María Jesús F. López-Palop visitó nuestra Curia General. Tras mantener una larga conversación privada con el Prior General, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., fue recibida por los miembros presentes de la comunidad de la Curia con los que compartió sus primeras impresiones en Roma y sus proyectos para las actividades culturales de la Embajada. El Prior de la comunidad, P. Christian Körner, O.Carm., le explicó el origen histórico del complejo de la Curia (el Titulus y la Domus Ecclesiae de tiempos del Imperio Romano, la basílica medieval de San Martino ai Monti, los edificios modernos, etc.). Todo el encuentro tuvo lugar en un ambiente muy cordial y distendido. Doña María Jesús prometió visitar de nuevo la Curia General en otra ocasión.

"Estate diplomatica" nella Curia Generalizia
Il 6 luglio il Vice Ambasciatore e responsabile dell’ufficio politico dell’Ambasciata tedesca presso la Santa Sede, Dr. Bernhard Schlagheck, ha invitato il Vice Priore Generale P. Christian Körner, O.Carm. per un pranzo di lavoro durante il quale si è informato sulla presenza dell’Ordine nel mondo e della sua amministrazione a Roma.
L'11 luglio il Consigliere per l'Europa, P. John Keating, O.Carm., è stato invitato nell'Ambasciata austriaca insieme al Rettore della Pontificia Università Gregoriana, alla Direttrice del Centro laico (Foyer Unitas) e ad un membro della Comunità Anglicana di Roma dall'Ambasciatore d'Austria presso la Santa Sede, Dr. Alphons M. Kloss assieme alla moglie, per una riunione informativa.
Infine, il 10 agosto, la nuova Ambasciatrice di Spagna presso la Santa Sede, Doña María Jesús F. López-Palop, ha visitato la Curia Generalizia. Dopo una lunga conversazione privata con il Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., è stata accolta dai membri della comunità della Curia presenti a Roma con i quali ha condiviso le sue prime impressioni di Roma e i suoi progetti per le attività culturali dell'Ambasciata. Il Priore della comunità, P. Christian Körner, O.Carm., ha spiegato le origini storiche del complesso strutturale attorno alla Curia (il Titulus e Domus Ecclesiae del tempo romano, la basilica medievale di S. Martino ai Monti e gli edifici moderni, ecc.). L'incontro si è svolto in un'atmosfera molto cordiale e rilassata. Doña María Jesús ha promesso di visitare di nuovo in un'altra occasione la Curia Generalizia
