Titus Brandsma Institute honours Fr. Falco Thuis
On Saturday 19th November, the Titus Brandsma Institute at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, honoured Fr. Falco Thuis, O.Carm., former Prior General of the Order, with a conference on spirituality on the occasion of his departure from the board of the Institute. There were a number of presentations by various speakers during the day and these were interspersed with musical interludes. Welcoming the numerous academics, members of various religious congregations, representatives of the the Carmel Foundation of schools in the Netherlands, Carmelites and members of Fr. Falco’s family, chair of the Titus Brandsma Institute Board, Dr. Jan Peters, S.J., began by acknowledging the great contribution of Fr. Falco to the Institute, to education, to the Order and to the Church. The newly appointed Director of the Institute, Dr. Inigo Bocken, concluded the conference with a presentation on the Social Spirituality. Fr. Falco in thanking the Institute pointed out the challenges and the opportunities that lay ahead. Fr. John Keating, O.Carm., Councillor General for Europe, represented the General Council of the Order.

Homenaje del Instituto Tito Brandsma al P. Falco Thuis
El pasado sábado 19 de noviembre, el Instituto Tito Brandsma organizó en la Universidad Radboud de Nimega un simposio sobre espiritualidad en honor del ex Prior General P. Falco Thuis con motivo de su cese en la junta del Instituto. A lo largo de la jornada se ofrecieron varias conferencias por parte de diversos ponentes, todas ellas seguidas de un intervalo musical. El Presidente de la junta del Instituto Tito Brandsma, Dr. Jan Peters SJ, dio la bienvenida a los académicos, a los miembros de las congregaciones religiosas, a los representantes de la fundación de las escuelas carmelitanas de Holanda y a los familiares del P.Falco, reconociendo sus merecimientos en el Instituto, en el campo de la educación, en la Orden y en la Iglesia. El nuevo director del Instituto, Dr. Inigo Bocken, clausuró el encuentro con una exposición sobre la espiritualidad social. El P. Falco, al agradecer el homenaje, subrayó los retos y posibilidades del Instituto en el futuro. El P. John Keating, O.Carm., Consejero para Europa, representó al Consejo General de la Orden.

L'Istituto Tito Brandsma onora P. Falco Thuis
Sabato 19 novembre l'Istituto Tito Brandsma ha organizzato presso l'Università Radboud di Nimega un simposio sulla spiritualità in onore dell’ex Priore Generale P. Falco Thuis per il suo congedo dal comitato dell'istituto. Durante la giornata si sono tenute diverse conferenze di vari relatori ciascuna seguita da un intermezzo musicale. Il preside del comitato dell'Istituto Tito Brandsma, Dott. Jan Peters SJ, ha dato il benvenuto ai vari accademici, membri di congregazioni religiose, rappresentanti della fondazione delle scuole carmelitane in Olanda e parenti di P. Falco, ed ha riconosciuto i suoi meriti per l'istituto, per l'educazione, per l'Ordine e la Chiesa. Il nuovo direttore dell'Istituto, Dr. Inigo Bocken, ha concluso l'incontro con una presentazione sulla spiritualità sociale. Durante il suo ringraziamento P. Falco ha sottolineato le prossime sfide e possibilità per l’Istituto. P. John Keating O.Carm., Consigliere per l'Europa, ha rappresentato il Consiglio Generale dell'Ordine.
