Inauguration of the Spiritual Center “Shanti Bhuana” in Indonesia
On January 12, 2013, the Spiritual Center “Shanti Bhuana” (Land of Peace) was officially inaugurated by Mgr. Hieronymus Bumbun OFM Cap, the Archbishop of Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, during a Eucharistic celebration. He was assisted by Mgr. Hadisumarto, O.Carm., Bishop emeritus of Sorong, West Irian, other bishops, Fr. Joko Purnomo, O.Carm. (Provincial) and Fr. Dionysius Kosasih, O.Carm. (Vice-Provincial). They were joined by many priests and about three thousands faithful coming from different parts of Indonesia.
“Shanti Bhuana” has a Retreat and Formation Center for the laity and a theological Institute named “St John of the Cross Theological Institute”, as they want to have an integral spiritual and theological formation open to seminarians and others. There will also be a convent for the Putri Karmel (Daughters of Carmel) sisters and the CSE (Carmelitae Sancti Eliae) brothers and dormitories for the other students. This Spiritual Center is owned and managed jointly by the CSE religious and by the Putri Karmel sisters, both affiliated to the Order in 2002.

Inauguración del Centro de Espiritualidad “Shanti Bhuana” en Indonesia
El pasado 12 de enero, durante la celebración eucarística, Mons. Hieronymus Bumbun OFM Cap, arzobispo de Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, inauguró oficialmente el Centro de Espiritualidad “Shanti Bhuana (Tierra de Paz). Concelebraron el obispo emérito de Sorong, West Irian, Mons. Hadisumarto, O.Carm., y otros obispos, así como el P. Joko Purnomo, O.Carm. (Prior Provincial) y el P. Dionysius Kosasih, O.Carm. (Vice-Provincial); también participaron muchos sacerdotes y cerca de tres mil fieles llegados de diversos lugares de Indonesia.
“Shanti Bhuana” comprende un centro de retiros y de formación para laicos y el instituto teológico “San Juan de la Cruz” para la formación espiritual y teológica de seminaristas y otros alumnos. Está prevista la edificación del convento de las hermanas “Putri Karmel” (Hijas del Carmelo) y de los frailes CSE (Carmelitae Sancti Eliae) así como la residencia para otros estudiantes. Este centro de espiritualidad pertenece y es gestionado por religiosos CSE y por hermanas Putri Karmel, ambos afiliados a la Orden el año 2002.

Inaugurazione del Centro Spirituale “Shanti Bhuana” in Indonesia
Il 12 gennaio scorso, durante la celebrazione eucaristica, Mons. Hieronymus Bumbun OFM Cap, arcivescovo di Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, ha inaugurato ufficialmente il Centro Spirituale “Shanti Bhuana” (Terra di Pace). Hanno concelebrato Mons. Hadisumarto, O.Carm., vescovo emerito di Sorong, West Irian, altri vescovi, P. Joko Purnomo, O.Carm. (Priore Provinciale) e P. Dionysius Kosasih, O.Carm. (Vice-Provinciale) con la partecipazione di tanti sacerdoti e di circa tremila fedeli venuti da varie parti dell'Indonesia.
“Shanti Bhuana” comprende un centro di ritiri e di formazione per laici e l'istituto teologico "S. Giovanni della Croce” per la formazione spirituale e teologica dei seminaristi e non solo. Sono previsti anche un convento delle suore "Putri Karmel" (Figlie del Carmelo) e dei fratelli CSE (Carmelitae Sancti Eliae) e dormitori per altri studenti. Questo centro di spiritualità appartiene ed è gestito dai religiosi CSE e dalle suore Putri Carmel, entrambi affiliati all'Ordine nel 2002.
