Activities of the Prior General
After taking part in the meeting of the two General Councils, O.Carm. and O.C.D. in Aylesford (see CITOC 35/2013)  the Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., attended the 81st Assembly of the USG (Union of Superiors General) which was held in Rome from the 22nd to the 24th of May, with the theme, “Leadership in Religious Life Fifty Years after the II Vatican Council”. The Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life, Cardinal Joao Braz de Aviz,attended the assembly along with the new Secretary of the same Congregation, Archbishop José Rodriguez Carballo, OFM, former President of the USG. The meeting was also attended by Fr. Bartolomeo Sorge, SJ, who used to be the director of La Civiltà Cattolica, Fr. Antonio Spadaro, SJ, the present director, and Fr. Juan Rubio Fernandez, director of the Spanish review, Vida Nueva.
On the 25th of May, the feast of St. Mary Magdalen de’Pazzi, the Prior General led the celebration of the Eucharist in the monastery in Florence that bears the name of the saint and where her body is venerated. He was joined by Fr. John Keating, O.Carm. and by the members of the International Formation Commission, who were in Italy for a meeting, and by numerous Carmelites and diocesan clergy.
Some days later the Prior General delivered an address to the “Congreso Latinoamericano de Espiritualidad” (The Latin-American Spirituality Congress) which took place in Mexico DF between the 26th and the 31st of May, and which had as its theme, the spirituality of St. Teresa of Jesus and some possible contemporary readings of it, “from memory to commitment”.  He talked about Blessed Titus Brandsma, translator, expert and devotee of St. Teresa. Following that, accompanied by  Fr. Raul Maravì, he conducted a canonical visitation of the Carmelite houses in Mexico.
Lastly, on the 6th of June, he took part in the launching of two new books, “Las mujeres en el cristianismo” (Women in Christianity), and, “Discursos despues de la muerte” (What is said after death) in the ARS bookshop in Zaragoza (Spain). Both publications contain the addresses given at the most recent seminars of the study group, Textos para un Milenio,  (Texts for a Millennium), directed by Prof. Henar Pizarro, that include an ample treatment of topics of Carmelite interest in relation to both questions.

Actividades del Prior General
Tras participar en el encuentro de los consejos generales Ocarm y OCD en Aylesford (ver citoc-online 35/2013), el Prior General, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., participó en la 81ª Asamblea Semestral de la USG (Unión de Superiores Generales) que tuvo lugar en Roma del 22 al 24 de mayo y en la que se trató el tema del “Liderazgo en la Vida Religiosa a los cincuenta años del Concilio Vaticano II”. En la misma participaron el Prefecto de la Congregación para los Institutos de Vida Consagrada (CIVCSVA), Cardenal João Braz de Aviz, y el nuevo Secretario de la misma, Monseñor José Rodríguez Carballo, OFM. (anterior presidente de la USG). Asimismo, participaron en la Asamblea el P. Bartolomeo Sorge, SJ., que fuera director de la revista “La Civiltà Cattolica”, el P. Antonio Spadaro, SJ., (director actual de la misma) y el P. Juan Rubio Fernández (director de la revista “Vida Nueva”).
El día 25 de mayo, festividad de Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis, el Prior General presidió la eucaristía en el monasterio de Florencia que lleva su nombre y donde se venera su cuerpo. Fue acompañado por el P. John Keating, O.Carm., y por los miembros de la Comisión Internacional de Formación (que se había reunido en Roma los días anteriores) y por numerosos carmelitas y sacerdotes diocesanos.
Posteriormente, el Prior General tuvo una conferencia en el “Congreso Latinoamericano de Espiritualidad”, celebrado en México DF del 26 al 31 de mayo y que tenía como tema la espiritualidad de Santa Teresa y las posibles lecturas actuales de la misma (“de la memoria al compromiso”). Su ponencia versó sobre el beato Tito Brandsma (“traductor, estudioso y devoto de Santa Teresa”). Asimismo, acompañado del P. Raúl Maraví O.Carm, Consejero General para América, hizo la visita canónica de las casas carmelitas en México.
Por último, el día 6 de junio, participó en la presentación de los libros “Las mujeres en el cristianismo” y “Discursos después de la muerte”, en la librería ARS de Zaragoza (España). Ambos libros incluyen las conferencias de los últimos seminarios del grupo de estudio “Textos para un Milenio” (dirigido por la profesora Henar Pizarro) e incluyen un amplio material de temática carmelitana sobre ambas cuestiones.

Attività del Priore Generale
Dopo l'incontro dei Consigli Generali O.Carm. e OCD ad Aylesford (vedi citoc-online 35/2013) il Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., ha partecipato all' 81° Assemblea Semestrale della USG (Unione dei Superiori Generai) che si è tenuta dal 22 al 24 maggio sul tema: “L’esercizio della leadership nella vita consacrata a 50 anni dal Vaticano II”. Hanno partecipato anche il Prefetto della Congregazione per gli Istituti di Vita Consacrata (CIVCSVA), il Cardinale João Braz de Aviz, e il nuovo Segretario della Congregazione, Mons. José Rodríguez Carballo, OFM., già presidente della USG. Inoltre hanno partecipato P. Bartolomeo Sorge SJ, che è stato direttore della rivista "La Civiltà Cattolica", P. Antonio Spadaro SJ, suo attuale direttore, e P. Juan Rubio Fernández, direttore della rivista "Vida Nueva".
Il 25 maggio, festa di Santa Maria Maddalena de' Pazzi, il Priore Generale ha presieduto l'eucaristia nel monastero di Firenze che porta il nome della Santa e custodisce il suo corpo. È stato accompagnato da P. John Keating, O.Carm., insieme ai membri della Commissione Internazionale per la Formazione, che durante i giorni precedenti erano riuniti a Roma, e a numerosi carmelitani e sacerdoti diocesani.
In seguito, il Priore Generale ha tenuto una conferenza al "Congresso Latinoamericano di Spiritualità", che si è celebrato dal 26 al 31 maggio in Messico sulla spiritualità di Santa Teresa e le sue possibili letture attuali ("dalla memoria all’impegno"). L'intervento del Priore Generale è stato sul Beato Tito Brandsma ("traduttore, esperto e devoto di Santa Teresa"). Accompagnato da P. Raúl Maraví, O.Carm., Consigliere Generale per le Americhe, ha condotto anche la visita canonica delle case carmelitane del Messico.
Infine, il 6 giugno ha partecipato alla presentazione dei libri “Las mujeres en el cristianismo” ("Le donne nel cristianesimo") e “Discursos después de la muerte” ("Discorsi dopo la morte") presso la libreria ARS a Saragozza in Spagna. Entrambi libri includono le conferenze degli ultimi seminari del gruppo di studio "Textos para un Milenio", diretto dalla Prof.ssa Henar Pizarro, e tanto materiale di matrice carmelitana su tutte e due gli argomenti.
