On-going formation course in Spain
On the occasion of the 5th centenary of the birth of St. Teresa of Jesus, on September 7 – 17, 2014, forty-eight Carmelites coming from 16 countries around the world gathered in Avila and Salamanca, Spain, for their on-going formation course. The course was organised by the General Formation Commission, chaired by Fr. Benny Phang, General Councilor for Asia, Australia and Oceania, and its administrative secretary, Fr. Noel Rosas (Curia). Fr. John Welch (PCM) and Fr. Desiderio Garcia Martinez (ACV) facilitated the whole course. Fr. John talked about the life and works of St. Teresa of Jesus and St. John of the Cross: the Interior Castle, Prayer, Transformation, Songs of the Heart, Letting go of Lesser Gods, Divinized Humanity, and how they are relevant to each person and to the present times. Fr. Desiderio, on the other hand, took all the participants to the places where St. Teresa of Jesus and St. John of the Cross were born, grew up, entered Carmel, inspired reform of the Order, died, and were buried. In those places the participants prayed, and meditated, contemplated, and savored the writings of the two Saints where they were actually written.
Fr. Raul Maraví, General Councilor for the Americas, and the Prior of CISA, Fr. Míceál O’Neill, helped with the translation. Fr. Nicolas Sozzi (Ita) helped to create a very prayerful ambiance for the liturgy.
The course was capped by the conference of the Prior General Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral on Blessed Titus Brandsma, a devotee and a scholar of St. Teresa of Jesus. The course became a beautiful moment of fraternity and sorority and friendship. After the final Eucharist, led by the Prior General Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, the participants went home with spirit renewed and hopeful for the future.

Curso de Formación Permanente en España
Con motivo del V Centenario del nacimiento de Santa Teresa de Jesús, se han reunido en Ávila y Salamanca, España, del 7 al 17 de septiembre de 2014, para un curso de formación permanente, 48 carmelitas procedentes de 16 países. El curso había sido organizado por la Comisión General para la formación y guiado por el P. Benny Phang, Consejero para Asia, Australia y Oceanía, y por el secretario administrativo para la formación, P. Noel Rosas (Curia). El curso fue impartido en su totalidad por el P. John Welch (PCM) y por el P. Desiderio García Martínez (ACV). El P. John habló sobre la vida religiosa y sobre las obras de Santa Teresa y de San Juan de la Cruz: cuán importantes son para toda persona y para nuestro tiempo el castillo interior, la oración, la transformación, los cantos del corazón, el liberarse de los ídolos, y una humanidad divinizada. Por otra parte, el P. Desiderio guió a los participantes por los lugares en los que Santa Teresa de Jesús y San Juan de la Cruz nacieron, crecieron e ingresaron en el Carmelo, en los que iniciaron la reforma de la Orden y en los que murieron y fueron enterrados. Los participantes oraron, meditaron, contemplaron y degustaron los escritos de estos dos santos en los lugares en los que fueron redactados.
El P. Raúl Maraví, Consejero General para las Américas, y el prior del CISA, P. Miceál O’Neill, ayudaron en las traducciones, y el P. Nicola Sozzi (Ita) promovió la consecución de un clima de oración durante la liturgia.
La conferencia del Prior General, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, sobre el beato Tito Brandsma, devoto y estudioso de Santa Teresa de Jesús, puso punto final a este curso, que ha resultado un precioso encuentro de fraternidad y de amistad. Acabada la misa de clausura, residida también por el Prior General, los participantes regresaron a sus respectivas casas con espíritu renovado y con esperanza hacia el futuro.

Corso di Formazione Permanente in Spagna
Dal 7 al 17 settembre 2014, ad Avila e Salamanca in Spagna, in occasione del V centenario della nascita di Santa Teresa di Gesù, si sono riuniti 48 carmelitani provenienti da 16 paesi per un corso di formazione permanente. Esso è stato organizzato dalla Commissione Generale per la formazione e guidato da P. Benny Phang, Consigliere per l'Asia, Australia e Oceania, e dal segretario amministrativo per la formazione, P. Noel Rosas (Curia). L'intero corso è stato guidato da P. John Welch (PCM) e P. Desiderio Garcia Martinez (ACV). P. John ha parlato della vita e delle opere di Santa Teresa di Gesù e San Giovanni della Croce: il castello interiore, la preghiera, la trasformazione, le canzoni del cuore, liberarsi degli idoli, l'umanità divinizzata e di quanto sono importanti per ogni persona e per il nostro tempo. P. Desiderio invece ha guidato i partecipanti sui luoghi nei quali i Santi Teresa di Gesù e Giovanni della Croce sono nati, cresciuti ed entrati nel Carmelo, dove hanno iniziato la riforma dell'Ordine e dove sono morti e sepolti. I partecipanti hanno pregato, meditato, contemplato e gustato le opere dei due santi proprio nei posti, dove sono state scritte.
P. Raúl Maraví, Consigliere Generale per le Americhe, e il priore del CISA, P. Míceál O'Neill, hanno aiutato per le traduzioni. P. Nicola Sozzi (Ita) ha favorito un clima di preghiera durante la liturgia.
La conferenza del Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, sul beato Tito Brandsma, devoto e studioso di Santa Teresa di Gesù, ha concluso il corso, che è risultato un bell'incontro di fraternità e di amicizia. Al termine della messa conclusiva preseduta dal Priore generale, i partecipanti sono tornati a casa con uno spirito rinnovato e con speranza per il futuro.
