The Ordinary Bi-annual meeting of the General Councils O.Carm.- OCD
On December 15 the biannual meeting of the O.Carm. General Council with the members of the General Council of the Discalced Carmelites took place in the General Curia of the Discalced Carmelites. First, there was an assessment of the eighth centenary celebration of the death of St. Albert of Jerusalem and the celebration of the fourth centenary of the death of Fr. Jerome Gracian.  Fr. Emilio Martínez, OCD., Vicar General, reported on the events that are taking place on the occasion of the 5th centenary of the birth of Santa Teresa. Also, the two generals reported on the last meeting of the USG (especially the reflection on Mutuae Relationes) and the beginning of the year of consecrated life. It was decided that the two generals will write a letter to the Carmelite family about the importance of this year with a brief Carmelite reflection on it.
The two councils shared the results of the special collection for the restoration of the Wadi and expressed their appreciation to the brothers and sisters of both branches of Carmel who have contributed generously. Fr. Christian Körner, O.Carm., and Fr. Michael Farrugia, O. Carm., explained the process the Order has followed (since Vatican II until today) to develop new Constitutions (in 1971 and 1995) and the ongoing project to revise the current Constitutions.
Finally, since this was the last meeting before the General Chapter of the Discalced Carmelites, which will take place in Ávila in the month of May 2015, both Councils expressed their satisfaction with the great atmosphere of fraternity and collaboration that has existed between the two groups over the years.

Encuentro semestral ordinario de los Consejos Generales O.Carm.-OCD
El pasado día 15 de diciembre tuvo lugar la reunión semestral del Consejo General con los miembros del Consejo General de los Carmelitas Descalzos en la Curia General OCD. En primer lugar, se hizo una evaluación de las celebraciones del VIII centenario de la muerte de San Alberto de Jerusalén y del IV centenario de la muerte del P. Jerónimo Gracián. El P. Emilio Martínez, OCD., Vicario General, informó acerca de los actos que se están llevando a cabo con motivo del V centenario del nacimiento de Santa Teresa. Asimismo, los dos generales informaron acerca de la última asamblea de la USG (sobre todo de la reflexión en torno a Mutuae Relationes) y del inicio del año de la vida consagrada. En este sentido, se decidió que los dos generales escriban una carta a la familia carmelita acerca de la importancia de este año con una breve reflexión carmelita sobre el mismo.
Los dos consejos compartieron los resultados de la colecta extraordinaria para la restauración del Wadi y mostraron su agradecimiento a los hermanos y hermanas de ambas ramas del Carmelo que han colaborado generosamente. El P. Christian Körner, O.Carm., y el P. Michael Farrugia, O.Carm., explicaron el proceso que, desde el Concilio Vaticano II hasta hoy, ha seguido la Orden para elaborar nuevas Constituciones (en 1971 y en 1995) y el proyecto en marcha de revisión de las actuales.
Por último, dado que éste era el último encuentro antes del Capítulo General OCD que tendrá lugar en Ávila el próximo mes de mayo de 2015, ambos consejos expresaron su satisfacción por el estupendo ambiente fraterno y de colaboración que ha habido entre ambos grupos durante estos años.

Incontro semestrale ordinario dei Consigli Generali O.Carm.-OCD
Lo scorso 15 dicembre, si è svolta la riunione semestrale del nostro Consiglio Generale con quello dei Carmelitani Scalzi nella Curia Generalizia OCD. Sono state valutate anzitutto le celebrazioni del VIII centenario della morte di Sant’Alberto di Gerusalemme e del IV centenario della morte di P. Gerolamo Gracián. P. Emilio Martínez, OCD, Vicario Generale, ha informato sugli eventi che si stanno svolgendo in occasione del V centenario della nascita di Santa Teresa.
I due Generali hanno poi informato sull’assemblea dell’USG, soprattutto sulla riflessione attorno al documento Mutuae Relationes, e sull’inizio del Anno della Vita Consacrata. In questo contesto si è deciso che i due Generali scriveranno una lettera a tutta la famiglia carmelitana sull’importanza di questo anno con una breve riflessione specifica carmelitana.
I due consigli hanno poi valutato il risultato della coletta straordinaria per il restauro del Wadi e hanno espresso gratitudine per la collaborazione generosa dei fratelli e delle sorelle di tutti i due rami del Carmelo. In seguito, i PP. Christian Körner, O.Carm., e Michael Farrugia, O.Carm., hanno spiegato il processo con cui furono elaborate le nuove Costituzioni nel 1971 e 1995 e l’inizio del progetto di revisione delle Costituzioni attuali.
Infine, visto che si trattava dell’ultimo incontro prima del Capitolo Generale OCD che si terrà ad Ávila nel maggio 2015, i due consigli hanno espresso soddisfazione sul clima fraterno e sull’ottima collaborazione tra i due gruppi durante questi anni.
