The General Congregation – first days
On Monday the 19th of September, the General Congregation of the Order began at Casa Hotel Sao Nuno in Fatima, Portugal. Participating are the Provincials, Commissaries and Delegates General from around the world; the meeting is the most important one between two General Chapters.
The Congregation opened with a celebration of the Eucharist presided over by the Prior General. In his opening discourse the Prior General underlined 15 important points for reflection during these days, to which the Councillors will return to when they speak. The Prior General encouraged the participants to live these days in a spirit of fraternity, generously, creatively and with hope in this exercise of discernment.
The second day was led by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the Archbishop of Manila and president of “Caritas Internationalis”. The Cardinal, speaking in a very fraternal and warm manner, underlined the importance of mercy in religious life and the necessity to welcome all with the same style with which Jesus welcomed others. The Cardinal then celebrated the Eucharist in the “Chapel of the Apparations”.

Congregación General de Fátima: primeros días
El lunes día 19 ha comenzado en la Casa San Nuno de Fátima (Portugal) la Congregación General de nuestra Orden. En la misma participan los Provinciales, Comisarios y Delegados Generales de todo el mundo y es el encuentro más importante entre dos capítulos generales.
La Congregación dio comienzo con la solemne eucaristía presidida por el Prior General. Asimismo, en su discurso de apertura, el Prior General mencionó 15 puntos que son importantes para nuestra reflexión durante estos días y sobre los que se volverá a tratar cuando llegue el turno de los diversos consejeros. El Prior General animó a los participantes a vivir estos días con el gozo de la fraternidad, con generosidad, con creatividad y con esperanza y, de este modo, hacer juntos un ejercicio de discernimiento.
El segundo día ha estado dirigido por el Cardenal Luis Antonio Tagle, Arzobispo de Manila y presidente de “Caritas Internationalis”. El Cardenal, con un tono muy fraterno y cercano, ha insistido en la importancia de la misericordia en la vida religiosa y en la necesidad de acoger a todos con el estilo que acogía Jesús. El Cardenal presidió la eucaristía en la llamada “capilla de las apariciones”.

Congregazione Generale - primi giorni
Lunedì 19 settembre è cominciata nella Casa Hotel San Nuno a Fatima in Portogallo la Congregazione Generale dell'Ordine. Vi partecipano i Provinciali, Commissari e Delegati Generali di tutto il mondo; è l’incontro più importante tra due Capitoli Generali.
La Congregazione si è aperta con una solenne celebrazione eucaristica presieduta dal Priore Generale. Nel suo discorso d'apertura il Priore Generale ha poi menzionato 15 punti importanti per la riflessione di questi giorni, sui quali si tornerà quando parleranno i vari consiglieri. Il Priore Generale ha incoraggiato i partecipanti a vivere questi giorni in spirito di fraternità, con generosità, creatività e con speranza facendo un esercizio di discernimento.
La seconda giornata è stata guidata dal Cardinale Luis Antonio Tagle, Arcivescovo di Manila e presidente della "Caritas Internationalis". Il cardinale, con un tono molto fraterno e vicino, ha sottolineato l'importanza della misericordia nella vita religiosa e la necessità di accogliere tutti con lo stile con cui anche Gesù accoglieva. Il Cardinale Tagle ha poi presieduto l'eucaristia nella "Cappella delle Apparizioni".
