Activities of the Prior General
On the 10th and 11th of September, the Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., led the celebration of the Eucharist in the Carmelite house of San Felice del Benaco (Brescia, Italy) on the occasion of the 5th centenary of the death of Blessed Baptist of Mantua (Spagnoli), whose body, still incorrupt, had been transferred there some days earlier from the cathedral of Mantua. The Prior General spoke about the importance of seeing in these centenary celebrations an occasion for renewal, building on these important figures, towards a revitalisation of our witness in the world of today. The following Sundays, those who led the Eucharist included Fr. Tiberio Scorrano, O.Carm., Vice-provincial of the Italian province, Fr.Christian Körner, O.Carm., Vice General of the Order, Fr. Giovanni Grosso, O.Carm., Provincial of the Italian province and Bishop Giuseppe Zenti, of the diocese of Verona. During this period, a number of cultural events are taking place, aimed at exposing the literary and humanistic contribution of Blessed Baptist, known in his own time as the “Christian Virgil”.
On the 15th of September, the Prior General took part in the launching of the book by Fr. Wilfrid McGreal, with the title, “A stumbling pilgrim guided by indirections” (a biography of Fr. Malachy Lynch, O.Carm.). The launch was held in the rooms of the Carmelite Parish of Faversham (England). The large attendance included Fr. Joseph Chalmers, O.Carm., former Prior General of the Order and the author of the work, who paid tribute to the illustrious Carmelite. On behalf of the Order, the Prior General thanked Fr. Wilfred for his great service in relation to the recent history of our Order.
On Saturday, the 8th of October, the Prior General led the celebration of the Mass of Thanksgiving for the 10th anniversary of the beatification of Mother Teresa Scrilli, in the church of the Holy Cross, near the generalate of the “Instituto Nostra Signora del Carmelo” (INSC). The concelebrants included Fr. Vincenzo Mosca, O.Carm., the  Postulator of the cause and a number of Carmelite and other priests.  The Superior General of the “Institute of Our Lady of Mount Carmel”, Mother Angelisa Spirandelli, was joined at the celebration by the Superior General of the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus (SCMTBG), Mother Donatella Capello and several sisters. The liturgy was followed by a cultural event put on by the children from the school of “Maria Teresa Scrilli” in Rome.

Actividades del Prior General
Los pasados días 10 y 11 de septiembre el Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., presidió las solemnes eucaristías celebradas en nuestro convento de San Felice del Benaco (Brescia, Italia) con ocasión de los 500 años de la muerte del beato Bautista Mantuano (Spagnoli), cuyo cuerpo incorrupto había sido trasladado algunos días antes desde la Catedral de Mantua. El Prior General subrayó la importancia de considerar estos centenarios como una ocasión de renovación y -desde la inspiración de estas figuras señeras- de revitalización de nuestro testimonio en el mundo de hoy. En domingos sucesivos presidieron la eucaristía entre otros: el P. Tiberio Scorrano, O.Carm., Viceprovincial de la provincia Italiana, el P. Christian Körner, O.Carm., Vice General de la Orden, el P. Giovanni Grosso, O.Carm., Provincial de la provincia Italiana y Monseñor Giuseppe Zenti, Obispo de la Diócesis de Verona. Asimismo, durante este período se están celebrando diversos actos culturales para evocar la dimensión literaria y humanística del beato, conocido en su tiempo como “el Virgilio cristiano”.
El día 15 de septiembre, el Prior General participó en la presentación del libro del P. Wilfrid McGreal, O.Carm., “A stumbling pilgrim guided by indirections” (un biografía del P. Malachy Lynch, O.Carm.) que tuvo lugar en los salones de la parroquia carmelita de Faversham (Inglaterra). En el concurrido acto participaron el P. Joseph Chalmers, O.Carm., ex-Prior General de la Orden y el autor del libro, quien glosó la figura del célebre carmelita. En nombre la Orden, el Prior General agradeció al P. Wilfrid su gran servicio para un mayor conocimiento de nuestra historia reciente.
El sábado día 8 de octubre, el Prior General presidió una eucaristía de acción de gracias con motivo del 10º aniversario de la beatificación de la Madre Scrilli en la iglesia “del Santissimo Crocifisso” junto a la Curia General del “Instituto Nostra Signora del Carmelo” (INSC). Concelebraron el P. Vincenzo Mosca, O.Carm., Postulador de la causa y varios carmelitas y sacerdotes. Estuvieron presentes la Superiora General del Instituto, Madre Angelisa Spirandelli, así como la Superiora General de las Carmelitas Misioneras de Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús (SCMTBG), Madre Donatella Capello y numerosas hermanas. Posteriormente tuvo lugar un acto cultural con los niños de la escuela “Maria Teresa Scrilli” de Roma.

Attività del Priore Generale
Il 10 e l’11 settembre il Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., ha presieduto le celebrazioni eucaristiche nel nostro convento di San Felice del Benaco, Brescia, in Italia, in occasione del 500° anniversario della morte del beato Battista Spagnoli. Il suo corpo intatto era stato traslato alcuni giorni prima dalla cattedrale di Mantova. Il Priore Generale ha sottolineato l’importanza di considerare questi centenari come un’occasione di rinnovamento e, partendo dall’esempio di queste figure illustri, di rivitalizzazione della nostra testimonianza nel mondo odierno. Tra gli altri, nelle domeniche successive, hanno presieduto l’Eucaristia P. Tiberio Scorrano, O. Carm., Vice Provinciale della Provincia Italiana, il Vice Priore Generale dell’Ordine, P. Christian Körner, O. Carm., il Priore Provinciale della Provincia Italiana, P. Giovanni Grosso, O. Carm., e Mons. Giuseppe Zenti, vescovo della diocesi di Verona. Durante questo periodo si stanno celebrando anche diversi atti culturali con l’intento di approfondire l’aspetto letterario e umanistico del beato, che nel suo tempo era conosciuto come “il Virgilio cristiano”.
Il 15 settembre il Priore Generale ha partecipato alla presentazione del libro di P. Wilfrid McGreal, O. Carm., “A stumbling pilgrim guided by indirections” (una biografia di P. Malachy Lynch, O. Carm.) che si è tenuta nei saloni della parrocchia carmelitana di Faversham, in Inghilterra. A questo evento, che ha visto molta partecipazione, sono stati presenti l’ex Priore Generale dell’Ordine, P. Joseph Chalmers, O. Carm., e l’autore del libro che ha illustrato la persona del famoso carmelitano. Il Priore Generale ha ringraziato P. Wilfrid a nome dell’Ordine per il suo grande servizio nel far conoscere la nostra storia recente.
Sabato 8 ottobre il Priore Generale ha presieduto nella chiesa del Santissimo Crocifisso, accanto alla Curia Generalizia dell’Istituto Nostra Signora del Carmelo (INSC), l’Eucaristia di ringraziamento in occasione del 10° anniversario della beatificazione della Madre Scrilli. Hanno concelebrato P. Vincenzo Mosca, O. Carm., Postulatore della causa, e vari carmelitani e sacerdoti. Erano presenti la Superiora Generale dell’Istituto, Madre Angelisa Spirandelli, la Superiora Generale delle Missionarie Carmelitane di Santa Teresa del Bambino Gesù (SCMTBG), Madre Donatella Cappello e numerose suore. In seguito si è tenuto un evento celebrativo con i bambini della scuola “Maria Teresa Scrilli” di Roma.
