A Convention of the Superiors General of the Carmelite Institutes of Consecrated Life
From the 14th to the 16th of October, at the “Maria Madre del Carmelo” Centre in Focene (Rome), the 7th Convention of the Superiors General of Carmelite Institutes of Consecrated Life took place. The Superiors General, or their representatives, of 12 of the 16 Institutes that are part of the Carmelite Family met with the Prior General and other members of his Council. At this time there are 13 institutes of sisters, one institute of male religious, one secular institute and one Third Order Institute. The gathering, which was coordinated by the Delegate General for Carmelite Nuns and Institutes, had as its theme the mission of consecrated people and of Carmel in the Church and in the world of today, in the light of the “Year of Consecrated Life”. The principal speakers were, Sr. Nicoletta Spezzati, APC, the undersecretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, and Fr. Bruno Secondin, O.Carm. The convention was also enriched by a number of accounts of collaboration between institutes and of the work of Carmelite women in the international organisations of the Church and of the world. The event closed with the participants attending the canonisation of Elizabeth of the Trinity in St. Peter’s Square.

Convenio de Superiores Generales de los Institutos Carmelitas de Vida Consagrada
El VII Convenio de Superiores Generales de los Institutos Carmelitas de Vida Consagrada tuvo lugar del 14 al 16 de octubre en el Centro “María Madre del Carmelo” de Focene (Roma). Junto con el Prior General y algunos miembros del Consejo General asistieron los Superiores Generales y los representantes de doce de los dieciséis Institutos que forman parte de la Familia Carmelitana. En la actualidad hay trece Institutos de hermanas, uno de religiosos, un Instituto Secular y un Instituto asociado a la Tercera Orden. El Convenio, que fue dirigido por el Delegado General para las Monjas y los Institutos, tuvo como tema la misión de los consagrados y del Carmelo en la Iglesia y en el mundo de hoy a la luz del reciente Año de la Vida Consagrada. Los principales conferenciantes fueron Sor Nicla Spezzati, APS, subsecretaria de la Congregación para los Institutos de Vida Consagrada y las Sociedades de Vida Apostólica, y el P. Bruno Secondin, O.Carm. Enriquecieron el convenio unos testimonios sobre la colaboración entre algunos Institutos y sobre la presencia de algunas carmelitas en los organismos internacionales de la Iglesia y del mundo. El evento concluyó con la participación, en la plaza de San Pedro, en la canonización de Isabel de la Trinidad.

Convegno dei Superiori Generali degli Istituti Carmelitani di Vita Consacrata
Dal 14 al 16 ottobre si è svolto presso il Centro "Maria Madre del Carmelo" di Focene (Roma), il VII Convegno dei Superiori Generali degli Istituti Carmelitani di Vita Consacrata. Insieme al Priore Generale e ad alcuni membri del Consiglio Generale, si sono radunati i Superiori Generali e i rappresentanti di 12 dei 16 Istituti che fanno parte della Famiglia Carmelitana. Attualmente vi sono 13 Istituti di suore, 1 di religiosi, 1 Istituto Secolare e un Istituto legato al Terz'Ordine. Il Convegno, guidato dal Delegato Generale per le Monache e gli Istituti, ha avuto come tema la missione dei consacrati e del Carmelo nella Chiesa e nel mondo di oggi, alla luce del recente Anno della Vita Consacrata. I relatori principali sono stati Sr. Nicla Spezzati, APS, sottosogretario della Congregazione per gli Istituti di Vita Consacrata e le Società di Vita Apostolica, e P. Bruno Secondin, O.Carm. Hanno arricchito il convegno alcune testimonianze sulla collaborazione tra alcuni Istituti e sulla presenza di alcune carmelitane negli organismi internazionali della Chiesa e del mondo. L'evento si è concluso con la partecipazione alla canonizzazione di Elisabetta della Trinità in piazza San Pietro.
