A Meeting of the General Council
The most recent meeting of the General Council took place from the 5th to the 12th of December. In addition to the items of ordinary administration and the reports of the General Councillors, the Prior General and his Council made the following appointments:

For the General Delegation of St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Albert of Jerusalem in India, with effect from the 15th of May, 2018.

Second Councillor:   Fr. Yesudas Asariparambil, O.Carm.

The Preparatory Commission for the 2019 General Chapter:

The members of the Preparatory Commission will meet for the first time in the Spring of 2018.

Further, the General Council approved the new Rite for Simple and Solemn Professions, in Italian. The translations into the other two official languages of the Order will now get underway.

In the context of its discussion of financial topics, the General Council decided, in the light of the changes that have taken place in the office of the Bursar, not to hold the triennial meeting of bursars.

At the end of this plenary session, on the 12th of December, our bi-annual meeting with the General Council of the Discalced Carmelites took place at their General house. The Provost General, Fr. Saverio Cannistrà talked about the various appointments that they have made recently and elaborated on some of the topics that were treated at their Extraordinary Definitory, held in Ariccia. That was followed by an exchange of information regarding both Orders: at this point some consideration was given to the World Youth Day, programmed for the month of January, in Panama, in 2019, and to the preparations for the next meeting of ALACAR (the Association of Latin American Carmelites) which will take place from the 23rd to the 28th of October, 2018. Lastly, Bro. Fausto Spinelli, O.C.D., the bursar of the Israeli delegation and president of the joint international commission for the restoration of the ruins of the first Carmelite foundation, on Mount Carmel, along with the two architects already appointed gave a report on the latest developments in the project in the Wadi ‘ain es-Siah.
The meeting ended with everyone sharing in an enjoyable and fraternal lunch.

Reunión del Consejo General
Las últimas reuniones del Consejo General tuvieron lugar del 5 al 11 de diciembre. Además de los diferentes temas de administración ordinaria y de los informes de los Consejeros Generales, el Prior General y su Consejo efectuaron los siguientes nombramientos:

Para la Delegación General de Santa Teresa de Lisieux y San Alberto de Jerusalén de la India (a partir del 15 de mayo de 2018):

Los miembros de la Comisión Preparatoria se reunirán por primera vez durante la primavera del año 2018.

El Consejo también aprobó el nuevo Rito en lengua italiana para la Profesión simple y solemne. Próximamente se procederá a la traducción a las otras dos lenguas oficiales de la Orden.

Al tratar los temas económicos, y habida cuenta de las substituciones que han tenido lugar en el área de la economía, el Consejo decidió suspender la reunión trienal de los ecónomos.

Finalizadas las sesiones plenarias, el 12 de diciembre tuvo lugar en la Curia de los Carmelitas Descalzos la reunión semestral de nuestro Consejo General con el Consejo General de los Carmelitas Descalzos. El Prepósito General OCD, P. Saverio Cannistrà, presentó algunos nombramientos efectuados recientemente e informó sobre algunos temas tratados durante su Definitorio Extraordinario celebrado en Ariccia. A continuación se intercambiaron informaciones sobre la vida de ambas Órdenes: en este contexto, se dedicó un tiempo a la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud prevista para el mes de enero de 2019 en Panamá, así como a la preparación del próximo encuentro de ALACAR (Asociación Latinoamericana de los Carmelitas), que tendrá lugar del 23 al 27 de octubre de 2018. Finalmente, fray Fausto Spinelli, OCD, ecónomo de la Delegación de Israel y presidente de la comisión internacional conjunta para la restauración de las ruinas del primer convento carmelitano en el Monte Carmelo, conjuntamente con los dos arquitectos encargados, presentaron las últimas novedades sobre el proyecto de Wadi ‘ain es-Siah.
El encuentro finalizó con la comida en un ambiente alegre y fraterno.

Riunione del Consiglio Generale
L’ultima riunione del Consiglio Generale si è tenuta dal 5 all’12 dicembre. Oltre i diversi temi di ordinaria amministrazione e le relazioni dei Consiglieri Generali, il Priore Generale e il suo Consiglio hanno provveduto alle seguenti nomine:

I membri della Commissione Preparatoria si incontreranno la prima volta durante la primavera 2018.

Il Consiglio ha inoltre approvato il nuovo Rito per la Professione semplice e solenne, in lingua italiana. Si procederà ad effettuare le traduzioni nelle altre due lingue ufficiali dell’Ordine.

Nel contesto della discussione sui temi economici, il Consiglio ha deciso, a causa degli avvicendamenti avvenuti nell'economato, di sospendere la riunione triennale degli economi.

Al termine di questa sessione plenaria, il 12 dicembre si è svolta presso la Curia Generale dei Carmelitani Scalzi la riunione semestrale con i membri del Consiglio Generale dei Carmelitani Scalzi. Il Preposito Generale OCD, P. Saverio Cannistrà, ha presentato varie nomine effettuate recentemente e illustrato alcuni temi trattati durante il loro Definitorio Straordinario, tenutosi a Ariccia. Successivamente sono state scambiate varie informazioni sulla vita dei due Ordini: in questo contesto si è dato spazio alla Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù, prevista nel mese di gennaio 2019 a Panama, e alla preparazione del prossimo incontro di ALACAR (Associazione Latinoamericana dei Carmelitani), che si terrà dal 23 al 27 ottobre 2018. Infine Fra Fausto Spinelli, OCD, economo della Delegazione di Israele e preside della commissione congiunta internazionale per il restauro delle rovine del primo convento carmelitano sul Monte Carmelo, e i due architetti incaricati hanno presentato gli ultimi aggiornamenti sul progetto nel Wadi 'ain es-Siah.
L'incontro si è concluso con il pranzo in un ambiente allegro e fraterno.
