Visit to the Curia of the "Karmel Foundation"
On November 24, the members of the Supervisory Board of the so-called "Carmel Foundation" (Stichting Carmelcollege), an association that coordinates 14 schools and more than 35,000 students in Holland, visited our General Curia in Rome. The origins of the association go back to 1922, when Fr. Titus Brandsma and other Dutch Carmelites began to work in education and the first Carmelite schools were created in this country. The members of the committee, who were accompanied by Anne-Marie Boss, explained to the members of the General Council (Christian Körner, O.Carm., Michael Farrugia, O.Carm and John Keating, O.Carm.) the characteristics and objectives of this association, as well as the challenges that lie ahead.
The Prior General, Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., expressed in turn the commitment of the Order in the field of education, informed them of the various initiatives that are being carried out in this area in various parts of the world and shared with them the need for a reflection on the "Carmelite identity" of our schools, especially in those areas where vocations are scarce and the provinces encounter personnel problems. He also thanked them on behalf of the Order for the work they are doing.

Visita a la Curia de la “Karmel Foundation”
El pasado día 24 de noviembre, visitaron nuestra Curia General en Roma los miembros del Comité de supervisión (Supervisory Board) de la llamada “Fundación Carmel” (Stichting Carmelcollege), una asociación que coordina 14 colegios y más de 35.000 estudiantes en Holanda. Los orígenes de la asociación se remontan a 1922, cuando el P. Tito Brandsma y otros Carmelitas holandeses comenzaron a trabajar en la educación y se crearon los primeros colegios carmelitas en este país. Los miembros del comité, que vinieron acompañados por Anne-Marie Bos, expusieron a los miembros del Consejo General (Christian Körner, O.Carm., Michael Farrugia, O.Carm y John Keating, O.Carm.) las características y objetivos de dicha asociación, así como los retos que tienen por delante.
El Prior General, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., expresó a su vez el compromiso de la Orden en el campo educativo, les informó de las diversas iniciativas que se están llevando a cabo en este ámbito en diversas partes del mundo y compartió con ellos la necesidad de una reflexión acerca de la “identidad carmelita” de nuestros colegios, especialmente en aquellas zonas donde hay escasez de vocaciones y las provincias encuentran problemas de personal. Asimismo, les agradeció en nombre de la Orden el trabajo que están llevando a cabo.

Visita della "Karmel Foundation" alla Curia
Lo scorso 24 novembre i membri del Comitato di supervisione (Supervisory Board) della "Carmel Foundation" (Stichting Carmelcollege) hanno visitato la nostra Curia Generalizia. Questa associazione coordina, in Olanda, 14 scuole con più di 35.000 studenti. Le origini dell'associazione risalgono al 1922, quando P. Tito Brandsma e altri carmelitani olandesi iniziarono a lavorare nel campo dell'educazione e furono fondate le prime scuole carmelitane in questo paese. I membri, accompagnati da Anne-Marie Bos, hanno spiegato ai membri del Consiglio Generale, Christian Körner, O.Carm., Michael Farrugia, O.Carm e John Keating, O.Carm., le caratteristiche e gli obiettivi della loro associazione, così come le sfide che li attendono.
Il Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., ha quindi evidenziato l'impegno dell'Ordine nel campo dell'educazione, li ha informati sulle varie iniziative che si stanno prendendo in questo ambito nelle varie parti del mondo e ha condiviso con loro la necessità di una riflessione sulla "identità carmelitana" delle nostre scuole, specialmente in quelle aree in cui le vocazioni sono scarse e le province incontrano problemi a livello di personale. Infine, a nome dell’Ordine, li ha ringraziati per il lavoro che stanno svolgendo.
