The Prior General Meets with the 15th General Chapter of the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus 

On the afternoon of September 13, the Prior General of the Carmelites, Fr. Míceál O’Neill, along with the General Councilor for the Americas, Fr. Luis Maza, met with the XV General Chapter of the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus (Suore Carmelitane missionarie di s. Teresa di Gesù bambino) that is taking place at a the Carmelite spiritual center “Mary, Mother of Carmel” in Focene (Roma).

Fr. Míceál presented several points of reflection to the Chapter, on our common Carmelite identity, based on “following in the footsteps of Christ.” This is always characterized on the synergy between the men and women, even to the founders of the Congregation: Blessed M. Crocifissa Curcio and Fr. Lorenzo van den Eerenbeemt.

From this point of view, he presented the content of the Carmelite Rule, as a work of transformation according to God who is fully alive and consequential in our times, opening wide perspectives for the contemplative and the apostolic-missionary life of Carmel and, therefore, for the Congregation.

Fr Michael Farrugia, Procuratore Generale, is assisting the sisters in reviewing their constitutions.

El Prior General de los Carmelitas se reúne con las Hermanas Misioneras de Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús durante el 15° Capítulo General

En la tarde del 13 de septiembre, el Prior General de los Carmelitas, P. Míceál O'Neill, junto con el Consejero General para las Américas, P. Luis Maza, se reunieron con el XV Capítulo General de las Hermanas Carmelitas Misioneras de Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús (Suore Carmelitane missionarie di s. Teresa di Gesù bambino) que se está celebrando en el centro de espiritualidad  “María, Madre del Carmelo” en Focene (Roma).

El P. Míceál se dirigió al Capítulo con algunas reflexiones, refiriéndose a nuestra común identidad carmelita, basándose en “vivir en obsequio de Jesucristo” y caracterizada constantemente en la sinergia entre lo masculino y lo femenino, incluso en los fundadores del Congregación: Beata M. Crocifissa Curcio y el P. Lorenzo van den Eerenbeemt.

Desde este punto de vista, presentó los contenidos de la Regla del Carmen como un proyecto de transformación según el Dios plenamente vivo y vigente en nuestros días, abriendo amplias perspectivas para la vida contemplativa y apostólica-misionera del Carmelo y, por tanto, para la Congregación.

El P. Michael Farrugia, Procurador General, está ayudando a las hermanas a revisar sus constituciones.

Il Priore generale dei Carmelitani incontra le Suore Carmelitane missionarie di s. Teresa di Gesù Bambino al 15° Capitolo generale

Nel  pomeriggio del 13 settembre il Priore generale, p. Míceál O’Neill, con il Consigliere generale p. Luis Maza, ha incontrato il XV Capitolo generale delle Suore Carmelitane missionarie di s. Teresa di Gesù bambino che è in corso a Focene, nel centro di spiritualità “Maria madre del Carmelo”.

P. Míceál ha rivolto al Capitolo alcune riflessioni, soffermandosi sulla comune identità carmelitana, fondata sull’ossequio di Cristo e costantemente caratterizzata dalla sinergia fra maschile e femminile, fino ai Fondatori della Congregazione: la beata M. Crocifissa Curcio e p. Lorenzo van den Eerenbeemt.

A partire da questa osservazione ha presentato i contenuti della Regola del Carmelo come un progetto di trasformazione secondo Dio che è pienamente vivo e valido nei nostri giorni, aprendo larghe prospettive per la vita contemplativa e apostolico-missionaria del Carmelo e, quindi, per la Congregazione.
