Celebrating at Home: Servants, Not Masters
29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

They’re at it again! One might be forgiven for wondering at just how slow the disciples are in getting Jesus’ message. For weeks he has been instructing them about the Kingdom of God and the conversion of heart needed to be his followers.

This Sunday’s Gospel episode shows that, yet again, they just don’t get it. This time it is James and John, who together with Peter form the ‘inner circle’, the group of disciples closest to Jesus. James and John are asking for the highest places of honor when Jesus comes into his ‘glory.’

Celebrando en Familia: Servidores, no amos
29 Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

¡Ya están otra vez! Se puede perdonar que uno se pregunte cuán lentos son los discípulos para entender el mensaje de Jesús. Durante semanas les ha estado hablando acerca del Reino de Dios y de la conversión del corazón necesaria para que sean sus discípulos.

El episodio del Evangelio de este domingo muestra que, una vez más, no lo entienden. Esta vez se trata de Santiago y Juan, que junto con Pedro forman el "círculo intimo," el grupo de discípulos más cercanos a Jesús. Santiago y Juan piden los puestos de honor más altos cuando Jesus llegue a su "gloria."

Celebrando in Casa: Servitori, non padroni
29 Domenica del Tempo Ordinario 

Ci risiamo! Non è strano chiedersi quanto siano lenti i discepoli nel recepire il messaggio di Gesù. Da settimane li sta istruendo sul Regno di Dio e sulla necessaria conversione del cuore per essere suoi discepoli.

L'episodio del Vangelo di questa domenica mostra che, ancora una volta, semplicemente non intendono. Questa volta sono Giacomo e Giovanni, che insieme a Pietro formano il gruppo di discepoli più vicini a Gesù. Giacomo e Giovanni chiedono i più alti posti d'onore quando Gesù entrerà nella "gloria."
