Celebrating at Home: What Must We Do?
Third Sunday of Advent

We continue to focus on John the Baptist in the Gospel today. The Gospel opens with the people, the tax collectors and some soldiers, having heard the call to change their lives, all asking John, ‘What must we do?”

Notice how practical John’s advice is. And, at the same time, it is a call to live by the values of compassion (to the crowd), justice (to the tax collectors), and the promotion of peace (to the soldiers).

Celebrando en Familia: Qué debemos hacer?

En el Evangelio de hoy seguimos centrándonos en Juan el Bautista. El Evangelio se abre con la gente, con los recaudadores de impuestos y algunos soldados, habiendo escuchado la llamada a cambiar de vida, todos pregunta a Juan ‘¿Qué debemos hacer?’

Fíjense en lo prácticos que los son los consejos de Juan. Y, al mismo tiempo, es una llamada a vivir según los valores de la compasión (a la multitud), de la justicia (a los recaudadores de impuestos) y el fomento de la paz (a los soldados).

Nel Vangelo di oggi continuiamo a seguire Giovanni Battista. Il Vangelo esordisce presentando le folle, i pubblicani e i soldati che, avendo ascoltato l'appello di Giovanni a cambiare vita, gli chiedono insieme: ‘Che cosa dobbiamo fare?’

Fa’ attenzione alla concretezza delle richieste di Giovanni. Al tempo stesso, egli richiama al valore della compassione (le folle), della giustizia (i pubblicani), della custodia della pace (i soldati).
