Until the age of thirteen years, Edith Stain (Teresa Benedicta) was in effect an atheist. She read the autobiography of Teresa of Avila and became aware of being called to become a Catholic; she was baptized on 1st January 1922. She made her First Communion the same day and was confirmed on the following 2nd February.

Sister Teresa Benedict of the Cross died in the gas chamber the same day that she arrived at the camp at Auschwitz, Sunday 9th August 1942, and her body was burned in one of the crematoria there.

Hasta la edad de trece años Edith Stein (Teresa Benita) fue prácticamente atea. Leyendo por casualidad la autobiografía de Santa Teresa de Ávila, sintió la llamada de Dios a la fe católica, que abrazó haciéndose bautizar el 1 de enero de 1922. En aquel mismo día recibió la Comunión y el 2 del siguiente mes de febrero la Confirmación.

Sor Teresa Benita de la Cruz fue martirizada en la cámara de gas el mismo día de la llegada al campo de Auschwitz, o sea, el domingo 9 de agosto de 1942 y después quemada en uno de los hornos crematorios.

Fino all'età di tredici anni Edith Stein (Teresa Benedetta) era praticamente atea. Leggendo per caso l'autobiografia di S. Teresa d'Avila, avvertì la chiamata di Dio alla fede cattolica, che ella abbracciò facendosi battezzare il 1 gennaio 1922. Quello stesso giorno ricevette la Comunione e il 2 febbraio successivo la Confermazione.

Suor Teresa Benedetta della Croce fu uccisa in una camera a gas lo stesso giorno dell'arrivo al campo di Auschwitz, ossia domenica 9 agosto 1942, e poi bruciata in uno dei forni crematori.
