Celebrating at Home: An Invitation for All

28th Sunday of Ordinary Time

A major theme in St Luke’s Gospel is that the message of Jesus is for all: men and women, rich and poor, old and young, healthy and sick, gentile and Jew. No one is excluded.

It is no accident that the one grateful leper in this week’s Gospel is not a Jew but a Samaritan – an outsider, excluded by race, religion and his illness. He joins the others in asking a Jewish Rabbi for mercy.

28 Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

El gran tema en el Evangelio de Lucas es que el mensaje de Jesús es para todos: hombres y mujeres, ricos y pobres, viejos y jóvenes, sanos y enfermos, gentiles y judíos. Nadie queda excluido.

No es casualidad que el leproso agradecido del Evangelio de esta semana no sea judío, sino un samaritano: un forastero, excluido por su raza, su religión y su enfermedad. Se une a los demás para pedir misericordia a un rabino judío.

28 Domenica del Tempo Ordinario

Uno dei temi principali del Vangelo di Luca è che il messaggio di Gesù è per tutti: uomini e donne, ricchi e poveri, vecchi e giovani, sani e malati, pagani ed ebrei. Nessuno è escluso.

Non è un caso che l'unico lebbroso riconoscente del Vangelo di questa settimana non sia un ebreo ma un samaritano: un estraneo, escluso per razza, religione e malattia. Si unisce agli altri per chiedere misericordia a un rabbino ebreo.

28 Domingo do Tempo Comum

O grande tema no Evangelho de Lucas é que a mensagem de Jesus é para todos: homens e mulheres, ricos e pobres, velhos e jovens, saudáveis e doentes, gentios e judeus. Ninguém está excluído.

Não é coincidência que o leproso grato do Evangelho desta semana não seja um judeu, mas um samaritano: um estrangeiro, excluído pela raça, religião ou sua doença. Ele se junta a outros para pedir misericórdia a um rabino judeu.
