International Lay Commission Plans Congress in 2024 during Its Rome Meeting The first in-person meeting but the seventh meeting of the International Secretariat for the Laity took place in Rome from November 27 to December 1. During these days they have been working on the organization of the next International Congress of the Laity to be held next year from September 15 to 21, 2024, in Sassone, (near Rome). Among other items on the agenda, the Secretariat discussed the organization of an International Congress of Third Order leaders to be held from February 26 to March 2, 2025, in Fatima, Casa San Nuno. A Reflection on the 100th Assembly of the Union of Superiors General The USG, (Union of Superiors General) representing male religious meets in general assembly twice a year. The general assembly of the UISG, the International Union of Superior General representing women religious takes place every three years. In planning the 100thassembly of the USG, because of the close cooperation that exists between the two unions, a decision was taken to have the two unions celebrate this 100th assembly together. About two hundred and eighty religious took part in this assembly, equally divided between men and women. To crown this memorable event we were invited to the Vatican in the middle of the assembly to spend time with Pope Francis. In his usual style he welcomed all of us and talked openly about his hopes and concerns for the Church, answering a well prepared series of questions posed by the participants. Experts Gather in France to Continue Critical Edition of John of Saint-Samson On December 15, 2023, the second Atelier Jean de Saint-Samson took place at the University of Rennes 2. With expertise in mysticism, spiritual theology, French literature and poetry of the 17th century, these scholars are working on volume 9 of the Œuvres complètes of John of Saint-Samson. Cooperative Learning in Formation Studied On November 27, 2023, the Asia-Australia-Oceania Formation Commission organized an on-line webinar on Cooperative Learning in Carmelite Formation. The presentation was given by Dr. Anita Lie, a professor from the Widya Mandala Catholic University in Surabhaya, Indonesia. Using “cooperative learning,” a teaching method as well as guidelines from the RIVC, our Carmelite formation manual, Dr. Lie encouraged the formators to form the students through collaboration and to reflect on their formative experiences in cooperative groups. All the formators from Asia-Australia-Oceania, 60 in total, along with the priors of the formation houses participated in this interactive session. The Formation Commission has already conducted on-line student and formator gatherings, the Titus Brandsma webinar series and an on-line gathering of vocation promoters from the geographic area. The Abu Dhabi Interfaith Statesment for COP28 In the spirit of unity, shared responsibility, and Human Fraternity, and at this pivotal moment of the global climate crisis that demands transformative action to keep 1.5 degrees within reach and serve affected and vulnerable communities, we, representatives of diverse faith and Indigenous traditions, through dialogue with scientists, religious scholars, academics, women’s organizations, youth, civil society, business leaders, and environmental policymakers, convened in Abu Dhabi in the lead-up to COP28 to express our shared concern for the escalating climate impacts that imperil our cherished planet, as well as our common commitment to jointly address this global crisis, building upon our previous efforts, including the interfaith appeal for COP26. La Comisión Internacional de Laicos Carmelitas planea un Congreso durante su reunión en Roma Del 27 de noviembre al 1 de diciembre, en Roma ha tenido lugar la primera reunión presencial y séptima del Secretariado Internacional del Laicado. Durante esos días se ha trabajado en la organización del próximo Congreso Internacional del Laicado que se celebrará el próximo año, los días del 15 al 21 de septiembre, en Sassone, Roma. Entre otros temas de la agenda, el Secretariado abordó la organización de un Congreso Internacional de responsables de Órdenes Terceras que se celebrará del 26 febrero al 2 de marzo de 2025, en Fátima, Casa San Nuno. Una reflexión sobre la 100a asamblea de la USG La USG (Unión de Superiores Generales), que representa a los religiosos masculinos, se reúne en asamblea general dos veces al año. La asamblea general de la UISG, la Unión Internacional de Superioras Generales que representan a las religiosas, se celebra cada tres años. Al planificar la asamblea número 100 del USG, debido a la estrecha cooperación que existe entre los dos sindicatos, se tomó la decisión de que las dos uniones celebraran esta asamblea número 100 juntos. En esta asamblea participaron unos doscientos ochenta religiosos, repartidos equitativamente entre hombres y mujeres. Para coronar este evento memorable, fuimos invitados al Vaticano durante el transcurso de la asamblea para pasar tiempo con el Papa Francisco. Con su estilo habitual nos dio la bienvenida a todos y habló abiertamente de sus esperanzas y preocupaciones para la Iglesia, respondiendo a una serie de preguntas bien preparadas formuladas por los participantes. Espertos se reúnen en Francia para proseguir los trabajos sobre la edición critica de las obras de Juan de San Sanson El 15 de diciembre de 2023 tuvo lugar en la Universidad de Rennes 2 el segundo Atelier Jean de Saint-Samson. Expertos en mística, teología espiritual, literatura francesa y poesía del siglo XVII, estos estudiosos trabajan en el volumen 9 de las Œuvres complètes de Juan de San Sanson. El aprendizaje cooperativo en la formación El 27 de noviembre de 2023, la Comisión de Formación Asia-Australia-Oceanía organizó un webinar online sobre el Aprendizaje Cooperativo en la Formación Carmelita. La presentación corrió a cargo de la Dra. Anita Lie, profesora de la Universidad Católica Widya Mandala de Surabhaya (Indonesia). Utilizando el "aprendizaje cooperativo", un método de enseñanza, así como las directrices de la RIVC, nuestro manual de formación carmelita, la Dra. Lie animó a los formadores a formar a los estudiantes a través de la colaboración y a reflexionar sobre sus experiencias formativas en grupos cooperativos. Todos los formadores de Asia-Australia-Oceanía, 60 en total, junto con los priores de las casas de formación participaron en esta sesión interactiva. La Comisión de Formación ya ha realizado encuentros online de estudiantes y formadores, la serie de webinars Titus Brandsma y un encuentro online de promotores vocacionales del área geográfica. La declaración interreligiosa de Abu Dhabi para la COP28 En el espíritu de unidad, responsabilidad compartida y fraternidad humana, y en este momento crucial de la crisis climática mundial que exige una acción transformadora para mantener 1,5 grados a nuestro alcance y servir a las comunidades afectadas y vulnerables, nosotros, representantes de diversas tradiciones religiosas e indígenas religiosas, académicos, organizaciones de mujeres, jóvenes, la sociedad civil, líderes empresariales y responsables de políticas medioambientales, nos reunimos en Abu Dhabi, en vísperas de la COP28, para expresar nuestra preocupación común por los crecientes impactos climáticos que ponen en peligro nuestro preciado planeta, así como nuestro compromiso común para hacer frente conjuntamente a esta crisis mundial, sobre la base de nuestros esfuerzos anteriores, incluido el llamamiento interreligioso para la COP26. La Commissione Internazionale dei Laici progetta un Congresso durante la riunione di Roma Dal 27 novembre al 1° dicembre si è svolta a Roma la prima riunione in presenza e la settima in totale del Segretariato Internazionale per i Laici. In questi giorni hanno lavorato all'organizzazione del prossimo Congresso Internazionale dei Laici che si terrà nel 2024, dal 15 al 21 settembre, a Sassone, Roma. Tra gli altri punti all'ordine del giorno, il Segretariato ha discusso l'organizzazione di un Congresso Internazionale dei leader del Terz'Ordine che si terrà dal 26 febbraio al 2 marzo 2025 a Fatima, presso la Casa San Nuno. Una riflessione sulla 100a assemblea dell'USG L'USG, (Unione dei Superiori Generali), che rappresenta i religiosi di sesso maschile, si riunisce in assemblea generale due volte l'anno. L’assemblea generale della UISG, l’Unione internazionale delle Superiore Generali che rappresentano le religiose, si svolge ogni tre anni. Nella pianificazione della 100a assemblea dell'USG, a causa della stretta collaborazione che esiste tra le due unioni, si è deciso di far celebrare insieme questa 100a assemblea della USG. A questa assemblea hanno preso parte circa duecentottanta religiosi, equamente divisi tra uomini e donne. Per coronare questo evento memorabile siamo stati invitati in Vaticano nel bel mezzo dell'assemblea per trascorrere del tempo con Papa Francesco. Nel suo stile abituale ha accolto tutti noi e ha parlato apertamente delle sue speranze e preoccupazioni per la Chiesa, rispondendo a una serie di domande ben preparate poste dai partecipanti. L'apprendimento cooperativo per la formazione Il 27 novembre 2023, la Commissione per la Formazione Asia-Australia-Oceania ha organizzato un webinar online sull'apprendimento cooperativo nella formazione carmelitana. La presentazione è stata tenuta dalla dottoressa Anita Lie, docente dell'Università Cattolica Widya Mandala di Surabhaya, in Indonesia. Dichiarazione interconfessionale di Abu Dhabi per la COP28 Nello spirito dell'unità, della responsabilità condivisa e della fraternità umana, e in questo momento cruciale della crisi climatica globale che richiede un'azione trasformativa per mantenere 1,5 gradi entro la nostra portata e servire le comunità colpite e vulnerabili, noi, rappresentanti di diverse fedi e tradizioni indigene, attraverso il dialogo con scienziati, studiosi religiosi, accademici, organizzazioni femminili, giovani, società civile, leader d'impresa e responsabili delle politiche ambientali, ci siamo riuniti ad Abu Dhabi in vista della COP28 per esprimere la nostra comune preoccupazione per l'intensificarsi degli impatti climatici che mettono a rischio il nostro amato pianeta, nonché il nostro comune impegno ad affrontare congiuntamente questa crisi globale, basandoci sui nostri precedenti sforzi, compreso l'appello interreligioso per la COP26.
