158/2026: Decree Signed for Carmel in Congo to Become a Province (October 1, 2026)
Decree Establishing the Congolese Province on October 15th Approved and Signed On October 1, the feast of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, with the consent of his Council, the Prior General, Desiderio García Martínez, issued the decree of canonical establishment of the Congolese Province, placing it under the patronage of Blessed Isidore Bakanja. This is the first Province on the African continent and will come into effect on October 15, the feast of St. Thérèse of Jesus. On March 19, 2026, in agreement with his Council, the Provincial Prior of the Italian Province submitted to the General Council the request for the establishment of the Congolese Province, proposing Blessed Isidore Bakanja as its patron. Se aprobó y firmó el decreto por el que se establece la Provincia Congoleña el 15 de octubre El 1 de octubre, fiesta de Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús, con el consentimiento de su Consejo, el Prior General, Desiderio García Martínez, emitió el decreto de erección canónica de la Provincia Congoleña, poniéndola bajo el patrocinio del Beato Isidoro Bakanja. Se trata de la primera Provincia del continente africano y entrará en vigor el 15 de octubre, fiesta de Santa Teresa de Jesús. El 19 de marzo de 2026, de acuerdo con su Consejo, el Prior Provincial de la Provincia Italiana presentó ante el Consejo General la solicitud de erección de la Provincia Congolesa, proponiendo como su patrón al Beato Isidoro Bakanja. Approvato e firmato il decreto che istituisce la Provincia congolese il 15 ottobre Il 1° ottobre, festa di Santa Teresa di Gesù Bambino, con il consenso del suo Consiglio, il Priore Generale, Desiderio García Martínez, ha emanato il decreto di erezione canonica della Provincia Congolese, ponendola sotto il patrocinio del Beato Isidore Bakanja. Si tratta della prima Provincia del continente africano ed entrerà in essere il 15 ottobre, festa di Santa Teresa di Gesù. Il 19 marzo 2026, in accordo con il suo Consiglio, il Priore Provinciale della Provincia Italiana ha presentato al Consiglio Generale la richiesta di erezione della Provincia Congolese, proponendo come suo Patrono il Beato Isidore Bakanja.
