A Meeting of the O.Carm. and O.C.D. General Councils at Aylesford, England
From the 10th to the 17th of May, a meeting of the O.Carm. and O.C.D. General Councils took place in Aylesford, England. After a tour of this place of great importance for the Order and a report on the life and present situation of the shrine, the members of the two Councils took part in the celebration of Vespers at the Anglican Cathedral of Rochester, where the group received a very warm, fraternal and ecumenical welcome. On Sunday, the 12th of May a Carmelite Family Day took place involving friars and lay carmelites of both branches of the Order. The programme included a talk by the O.C.D. Councillor General, Fr. John Grennan, on Prayer Rooted in the Humanity of Christ, and a talk by Fr. Kevin Alban, the O.Carm. Bursar General, on Hope and Transformation in Community.
The two days that followed were taken up with a reflection on the mission of Carmel today, led by Fr. Benito De Marchi, MCCJ, Comboni missionary and retired professor of the Missionary Institute of London. This theme will be the theme of our forthcoming General Chapter.
On the 15th of May the members of the two councils went to Cambridge to spend some time with Lord Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury from 2002 to 2012, to reflect on the mission and charism of Carmel (See citoc-online 33/2013).
The following day, on the 16th of May, the feast of St. Simon Stock, the members of the two Councils celebrated the Eucharist, led by the Prior General, Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., in the chapel of the relics of the saint. Then the members got down to the task of writing a message to Carmel, which will be sent out in various languages. In addition to all that, the normal bi-annual meeting of the Councils took place, to study and evaluate shared initiatives.

Encuentro de los Consejos Generales OCarm y OCD en Aylesford, Inglaterra
Del 10 al 17 de mayo se ha celebrado en Aylesford, Inglaterra,  el encuentro de los Consejos Generales de los Carmelitas y los Carmelitas descalzos (OCarm y OCD). Tras una visita guiada a este lugar tan importante en la historia de nuestra Orden y una presentación de la actividad y de la situación del santuario, ambos consejos participaron en las Vísperas de la Catedral anglicana de Rochester donde fueron recibidos en un ambiente de fraternidad ecuménica El domingo 12 de mayo se celebró una jornada dedicada a la familia carmelita con la participación de religiosos y laicos de ambas ramas del Carmelo. En el mismo, y entre otros actos, hubo dos conferencias principales llevadas a cabo por el P. John Grennan, Consejero General OCD, sobre la oración enraizada en la humanidad de Cristo y por el P. Kevin Alban, Ecónomo General O.Carm., sobre el tema “comunidades de esperanza y de trasformación”.
Los dos días siguientes, guiados por el P. Benito De Marchi MCCJ, Comboniano y profesor emérito del “Missionary Institute” de Londres, se dedicaron a la reflexión sobre la misión del Carmelo en el mundo de hoy (que será también el tema de nuestro Capítulo general en septiembre de este año).
El 15 de mayo los miembros de ambos consejos tuvieron la oportunidad de  compartir una sesión de trabajo en Cambridge con Lord Rowan Williams, arzobispo emérito de Canterbury de 2002 a 2012, sobre la misión y el carisma del Carmelo (ver citoc-online 33/2013).
Al día siguiente, 16  de mayo, fiesta de San Simón Stock, los miembros de ambos consejos celebraron la eucaristía presidida por el Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral O.Carm., en la capilla de las reliquias del santo. A continuación, se preparó un mensaje conjunto para toda la familia carmelita que será enviado en varias lenguas. Asimismo, se llevó a cabo la reunión ordinaria semestral, en la que se trataron diversos temas e iniciativas de interés común.

Incontro dei Consigli Generali OCarm e OCD a Aylesford, Inghilterra
Dall'10 al 17 maggio si è tenuto a Aylesford, Inghilterra, l'incontro dei Consigli Generali OCarm e OCD. Dopo una visita di questo luogo importante per l'Ordine e la presentazione della vita e della situazione del santuario, i membri dei due Consigli hanno partecipato ai vespri nella cattedrale anglicana di Rochester, dove sono stati accolti in uno spirito fraterno ed ecumenico. La domenica 12 maggio si è celebrata una giornata della famiglia carmelitana con la partecipazione di frati e laici di tutti e due i rami dell'Ordine. Tra l'altro ci sono state conferenze del Consigliere Generale OCD P. John Grennan sulla preghiera radicata nell'umanità di Cristo e di P. Kevin Alban, Economo Generale O.Carm. sul tema comunità di speranza e trasformazione.
I due giorni seguenti, guidati da P. Benito De Marchi MCCJ, Comboniano e professore emerito del Missionary Institute a Londra, sono stati dedicati alla riflessione sulla missione del Carmelo nel mondo d'oggi, che sarà anche il tema del nostro prossimo Capitolo Generale.
Il 15 maggio i membri dei due Consigli hanno avuto l’opportunità di trascorrere del tempo a Cambridge per lavorare con Lord Rowan Williams, arcivescovo di Canterbury dal 2002 al 2012, sulla missione e sul carisma del Carmelo (vedi citoc-online 33/2013).
Il giorno seguente, 16 maggio, festa di S. Simone Stock, i membri dei due Consigli hanno celebrato l'eucaristia, preseduta dal Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral O.Carm. nella cappella della reliquia del santo. In seguito si sono dedicati alla preparazione di un messaggio al Carmelo, che sarà inviato nelle varie lingue. Inoltre si è tenuta la riunione semestrale regolare dedicata allo studio e alla valutazione di altre iniziative comuni.
