The Ordinary Bi-annual meeting of the General Councils O.Carm.- O.C.D.
On the 16th of December, just gone by, the bi-annual meeting of the General Council with the members of the General Council of the Discalced Carmelites took place in the General Curia of the O.C.D. At the beginning of the meeting the new members of the O.Carm. General Council were introduced, as it was their first time to take part in this meeting. Along with the other outstanding matters, there was a sharing about the recent General Chapter of the O.Carm., the recent assembly of the USG and the meeting of the Superiors General with Pope Francis (see CITOC 96/2013), as well as the meeting concerning cloistered nuns that took place in the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CIVCSVA) last November (see CITOC 100/2013)
The two councils looked at the upcoming centenaries and they studied the possibilities of joint celebrations, about which you will hear more later on.
Raúl Maraví and Carl Markelz reported on the meeting that they had on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of November at Stella Maris in Haifa with Fr. Fausto Spinelli, O.C.D. the bursar of the Delegation of Israel and President of the Joint International Commission for the Restoration of the Ruins of the First Carmelite Foundation on Mount Carmel (Wadi 'ain es-Siah).
In addition, the two General Councilors for Africa, George Desmond Tambala O.C.D. and Conrad Mutizamhepo, O.Carm. reported  on the joint meeting of the Carmelite Family that took place in Malawi in July of this year and they showed a desire that in the future this event might be broadened out to include other areas of the continent.
This meeting which was held in an atmosphere of fraternity and a spirit of collaboration, took place at the O.C.D. Curia. The next meeting will be held on the 2nd of June, 2014 in our Curia house.

Encuentro semestral ordinario de los Consejos Generales OCarm-OCD
El pasado día 16 de diciembre tuvo lugar la reunión semestral del Consejo General con los miembros del Consejo General de los Carmelitas Descalzos en la Curia General OCD. En primer lugar, se presentaron los nuevos miembros del Consejo General OCarm., que participaban en este encuentro por primera vez. Aparte de otras cuestiones y temas pendientes, se compartió la experiencia del Capítulo General OCarm, la última asamblea de la USG y el encuentro de los Generales con el Papa Francisco [ver citoc 96/2013], así como la reunión sobre las monjas de clausura que tuvo lugar en la Congregación para los Institutos de Vida Consagrada y las Sociedades de Vida Apostólica (CIVCSVA) el pasado mes de noviembre [ver citoc 100/2013].
Los dos consejos repasaron los próximos centenarios que se avecinan y estudiaron algunas celebraciones conjuntas sobre las que se irá informando sucesivamente.
Los PP. Raúl Maraví y Carl Markelz informaron del encuentro que mantuvieron los pasados días 20-22 de noviembre en el centro de Stella Maris de Haifa con Fr. Fausto Spinelli, OCD., ecónomo de la Delegación de Israel y presidente de la comisión internacional conjunta para la restauración de las ruinas del primer convento carmelita en el Monte Carmelo (Wadi 'ain es-Siah).
Asimismo, los dos consejeros generales para África (PP. George Desmond Tambala, OCD y Conrad Mutizamhepo, O.Carm) informaron del encuentro conjunto de la familia carmelitana, celebrado en Malawi en julio de 2013 y mostraron su deseo de que en el futuro se pueda ampliar a otras zonas del continente.
El encuentro, que se desarrolló en un ambiente de fraternidad y espíritu de colaboración, tuvo lugar en la Curia OCD. El próximo encuentro tendrá lugar el 2 de junio en nuestra Curia General.

Incontro semestrale ordinario dei Consigli Generali OCarm-OCD
Il 16 dicembre scorso si è svolta nella Curia Generale OCD la riunione semestrale del Consiglio Generale con quello dei Carmelitani Scalzi. Prima di tutto sono stati presentati i nuovi membri del Consiglio O.Carm. che partecipavano per la prima volta all'incontro. A parte altre questioni e temi in sospeso è stata condivisa l'esperienza del Capitolo Generale O.Carm., l'ultima assemblea dell'USG e l'incontro dei Generali con Papa Francesco (vedi citoc 96/2013), ed anche la riunione sulle monache di clausura che si è svolta presso la Congregazione per gli Istituti di Vita Consacrata e le Società di Vita Apostolica (CIVCSVA) nel novembre scorso (vedi citoc 100/2013).
I due consigli hanno ripassato i prossimi centenari ormai vicini e hanno studiato alcune celebrazioni congiunte di cui si darà informazione in seguito.
I PP. Raúl Maraví e Carl Markelz hanno informato sull'incontro che si è svolto dal 20 al 22 novembre scorso al centro di Stella Maris a Haifa con Fra Fausto Spinelli, OCD, economo della Delegazione di Israele e preside della commissione congiunta internazionale per il restauro delle rovine del primo convento carmelitano sul Monte Carmelo nel Wadi 'ain es-Siah.
I due consiglieri per l'Africa, i PP. George Desmond Tambala, OCD e Conrad Mutizamhepo, O.Carm., hanno poi informato dell'incontro congiunto della famiglia carmelitana, celebrato in Malawi nel luglio 2013 e hanno espresso il desiderio di poterlo estendere ad altre zone del continente.
L'incontro si è svolto in un'atmosfera fraterna ed in un spirito di collaborazione nella Curia OCD; il prossimo ci sarà il 2 giugno nella nostra Curia Generalizia.
