Second Meeting of the Commission on Liturgy & Prayer
The second meeting of the Commission on Prayer & Liturgy took place in the Curia on Friday and Saturday, November 21-22, 2014. The members of the Commission are Fathers Francisco de Sales Alencar Batista (Secretary General), Chairman, Edmondo Caruana (Mel), Giuseppe M. Midili (Ita), Michael Farrugia (Procurator General), Giovanni Grosso (Postulator General), Robert Pius Malik (Indo), and Mario Esposito (SEL), Secretary. The Commission continued its work following the mandates of the General Chapter and General Council, by drafting a revision of the vow formula for solemn vows to be submitted to the General Council, as well as the liturgies for simple and solemn profession and the reception of novices. Attention was also given to the revision of the Carmelite Calendar, the Carmelite Missal and Liturgy of the Hours, the Rite for Funerals, the texts of the newly beatified and canonized members of the Order, and the various rituals associated with the life of the Third Order of Carmel. Because of the lengthy wait for decisions in the Congregation for Divine Worship, many of these projects have been delayed a long time. Still, the Commission is pressing on to pay good attention to all matters having to do with Liturgy within the Order. A Congress on Liturgy in Carmel is also planned for 2016. The Commission will meet again in April to continue its work.

Segundo encuentro de la Comisión de Liturgia y Oración
Tuvo lugar en la Curia General los días 21 y 22 de noviembre de 2014. La comisión la forman los PP. Francisco de Sales Alencar Batista (Secretario General), presidente, Edmondo Caruana (Mel), Giuseppe M. Midili (Ita), Michael Farrugia (Procurador General), Giovanni Grosso (Postulador General), Robert Pius Malik (Indo), y Mario Esposito (SEL), secretario. La comisión, continuando el trabajo encomendado por el Capítulo General y por el Consejo General, preparó un borrador de la fórmula de la profesión solemne para ser presentada al Consejo General, de la liturgia de la profesión simple y solemne y de la celebración del inicio del noviciado. También se prestó atención a la renovación del calendario carmelitano, del misal y del propio de la liturgia de las horas, así como al ritual de las exequias y a los textos propios para la memoria de los últimos santos y beatos y al ritual de la Tercera Orden Carmelitana. Debido a la larga espera de las decisiones de la Congregación para el Culto Divino, algunos proyectos sufren un gran retardo. Aún así, la comisión está intensificando su atención a todas las cuestiones relativas a la liturgia de la Orden. También está revisto un congreso sobre la liturgia para el año 2016. La comisión se reunirá de nuevo el próximo mes de abril para continuar su trabajo.

Secondo incontro della Commissione Liturgia e Preghiera
Il secondo incontro della commissione per la liturgia e la preghiera si è svolto dal 21 al 22 novembre 2014 nella Curia Generalizia. I membri sono i PP. Francisco de Sales Alencar Batista (Segretario Generale), preside, Edmondo Caruana (Mel), Giuseppe M. Midili (Ita), Michael Farrugia (Procuratore Generale), Giovanni Grosso (Postulatore Generale), Robert Pius Malik (Indo), e Mario Esposito (SEL), segretario. La commissione ha continuato il lavoro affidatole dal Capitolo Generale e dal Consiglio Generale preparando una bozza della formula della professione solenne da presentare al Consiglio Generale, della liturgia per la professione semplice e solenne e della celebrazione d’inizio del noviziato. Si è data attenzione anche alla revisione del calendario carmelitano, del messale e della liturgia delle ore propri, inoltre al rito per il funerale, ai testi propri per le memorie degli ultimi santi e beati e al rituale del Terz’Ordine carmelitano. A causa del lungo tempo di attesa delle decisioni della Congregazione per il Culto Divino diversi progetti sono in grande ritardo. Tuttavia la commissione sta intensificando la propria attenzione a tutte le questioni relative alla liturgia nell’Ordine. È anche previsto un congresso sulla liturgia nel 2016. La commissione si incontrerà di nuovo nel prossimo aprile per proseguire il lavoro.
