The Second Meeting of the Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation
The Carmelite Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation met in Rome from 15-20 June 2015. Those in attendance were: Jane F Remson, O.Carm (COLMC - Carmelite NGO), Annah Theresa Nyadombo, (HLMC, Zimbabwe), Eduardo Agosta Scarel, O.Carm (ACV-Arg), Mark Zittle, O.Carm (SEL) Hariawan Adji, O. Carm (Indo) Florent Dundji Dhenyi, O. Carm (Italy-Con) and Conrad Mutizamhepo, O.Carm (General Councillor and Praeses).
The meeting began with a day of reflection on the theme: The Ministry of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation in Carmel: Past, Present and Future – Challenges and Opportunities led by Fr Míceál O’Neill, O.Carm. Míceál gave a historical overview of Carmelite Justice and Peace work especially since the Vatican II chronicling the important developments emerging from the Council of Provinces, the General Congregation gatherings and General Chapters.
Thereafter the meeting addressed the issues on the agenda: reflection on the insights of Miceal’s presentation; listening to regional reports; collaboration between JPIC and Carmelite NGO; planning for the forthcoming Carmelite Family Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation meeting during 2017; analysis of the questionnaire on social and environmental issues that is intended to be send to members of the Carmelite Family in the near future; a discussion on the Pope’s new encyclical Laudato Si and how Carmelites can participate in sensitizing their communities to the issues concerning social and environmental justice issues which are constitutive of the proclamation of the Gospel. The Carmelite Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of creation supports His Holiness Pope Francis on writing a very timely document to raise awareness and call the whole world community to take note of the serious questions raised by social and environmental questions. The Pope does not just highlight the challenges but also proposes a change of course for the whole of humanity to avert disaster.

Segunda reunión de la Comisión General de Justicia, Paz e Integridad de lo creado
Del 15 al 20 de junio se reunió la Comisión General para la Justicia, la Paz y la Integridad de lo creado, con la participación de Sor Jane F. Remson (COLMC-ONG Carmelitana), Sor Annah-Theresa Nyadombo, HLMC (Zimbabwe), Eduardo Agosta Scarel, O.Carm (ACV-Arg), Mark Zittle, O.Carm (SEL), Hariawan Adji, O.Carm (Indo), Florent Dundji Dhenyi, O. Carm (Ita-Con) y Conrad Mutizamhepo, O.Carm, (Consejero General y Presidente de la misma).
Se inició la reunión con una reflexión del P. Míceál O’Neill, O.Carm., sobre el tema “El servicio de la Justicia, la Paz y la Integridad de lo creado: pasado, presente y futuro - Retos y posibilidades”. El P. Míceál presentó un cuadro histórico sobre el trabajo realizado por la Orden en el área de la Justicia y la Paz, especialmente a partir del Vaticano II, y expuso una crónica de los avances conseguidos desde los Consejos de las Provincias, las Congregaciones Generales y los Capítulos Generales.
A continuación, el trabajo se centró en los siguientes puntos del orden del día: reflexión sobre la exposición del P. Míceál, informes regionales, colaboración entre la comisión de JPIC y la ONG Carmelitana, organización del encuentro de la Familia Carmelitana sobre el tema de Justicia, Paz e Integridad de lo creado del año 2017, análisis del cuestionario sobre temas sociales y ambientales que se enviará próximamente a la Familia Carmelitana, debate sobre la nueva encíclica del Papa “Lodato sì”, y finalmente modo en que los carmelitas pueden sensibilizar a sus comunidades sobre los temas sociales y ambientales presentes en la proclamación del evangelio. La Comisión de Justicia, Paz e Integridad de lo creado se congratula con Su Santidad el Papa Francisco por haber escrito un documento de gran actualidad sensibilizando y llamando a totalidad de la comunidad mundial a tomar conciencia de los graves problemas que tienen su origen en cuestiones sociales y ambientales. El Papa no se limita a identificar los retos, sino que también propone un cambio de rumbo de la humanidad entera con el fin de evitar el desastre.

Secondo incontro della Commissione Generale di Giustizia, Pace e Integrità del creato
La Commissione Generale per la Giustizia, Pace e Integrità del creato si è incontrata dal 15 al 20 giugno 2015. Hanno partecipato: Sr. Jane F. Remson (COLMC-ONG Carmelitana), Sr. Annah-Theresa Nyadombo, HLMC (Zimbabwe), Eduardo Agosta Scarel, O.Carm (ACV-Arg), Mark Zittle, O.Carm (SEL), Hariawan Adji, O.Carm (Indo), Florent Dundji Dhenyi, O. Carm (Ita-Con) e Conrad Mutizamhepo, O.Carm, (Consigliere Generale e Preside).
L’incontro è cominciato con una riflessione di P. Míceál O’Neill, O.Carm., sul tema: “Il servizio della Giustizia, Pace e Integrità del creato: passato, presente e futuro – Sfide e opportunità”. P. Míceál ha presentato un quadro storico del lavoro della Giustizia e Pace carmelitana, specialmente dopo il Vaticano II facendo una cronaca degli sviluppi emersi dai Consigli delle Province, Congregazioni Generali e Capitoli Generali.
Dopo si è lavorato sui seguenti punti dell’agenda: riflessione sulla relazione di P. Míceál, relazioni regionali, collaborazione tra GPIC e ONG Carmelitana, organizzazione dell’incontro della Famiglia Carmelitana sulla Giustizia, Pace e Integrità del creato nel 2017, analisi del questionario su questioni sociali e ambientali da inviare prossimamente alla Famiglia Carmelitana, discussione sulla nuova Enciclica del Papa “Laudato Sì”, e infine, come i carmelitani possono sensibilizzare le loro comunità su questioni sociali e ambientali che sono costitutive per la proclamazione del vangelo. La Commissione di Giustizia, Pace e Integrità del Creato si congratula con Sua Santità Papa Francesco per aver scritto un documento di grande attualità per sensibilizzare e richiamare l'intera comunità mondiale a prendere atto dei gravi problemi sollevati dalle questioni sociali e ambientali. Il Papa non si limita a evidenziare le sfide, ma propone anche un cambio di strada per l'intera umanità per evitare il disastro.
