The Assembly of the Federal Leaders and Representatives of Non-federated Monasteries
Taking advantage of the congress of federal leaders of all the religious orders, organised by the Congregation for Consecrated Life, at the end of the year dedicated to the consecrated life, the five Carmelite federal leaders (3 from Spain, I from the Philippines and 1 from Italy), along with the coordinator of the monasteries in Brazil and representatives of monasteries in the Caribbean and the U.S.A. were invited by the Delegate General to a meeting that was held from the 3rd to the 5th of February at St. Albert’s International Centre (CISA) in Rome. This assembly was first of all an occasion for getting to know all about the federations and the monasteries outside the federations, and then to promote communication and communion between the nuns themselves and between the monasteries and the rest of the Carmelite Family. In this context, the proposals put forward by the Secretariat for Nuns and presented by Mother Ma. Elena Tolentino (BUR) (see citoc-online 112/2014) were further developed. The 15 participants also shared their thoughts about what emerged from the Vatican congress, beginning with a report on the event given by Mother Martina Simeone (SUT).
Two further moments of great interest were the participation of the Postulator General, Giovanna Brizi, and of the Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm.  The Postulator General spoke about the causes of nuns underway at this time and the procedure that has to be followed if there is a desire to introduce a new cause. The Prior General shared an amount of information regarding a number of topics, events and initiatives within the Order, and concluded by encouraging the nuns to continue on this path towards greater communion. As a result of the exchanges two important decisions were taken: the holding of the assembly of federal leaders and representatives of non-federated monasteries every three years, and a mode of procedure for the updating of the nuns’ constitutions.
At the end of the meeting, the Prior General made a presentation to the Prior of CISA Míceál O’Neill, O.Carm of the type-writer that belonged to Fr. Bartolomé Xiberta O.Carm. a candidate for beatification, with which Xiberta wrote his great theological works and hundreds of letters to Carmelite nuns.

Asamblea de las Madres Federales y las representantes de los monasterios no federados
Con ocasión del Congreso de las Federales de todas las Órdenes religiosas organizado por la Congregación para la Vida Consagrada al finalizar el año dedicado a los consagrados, el Delegado General invitó a las 5 Federales carmelitanas (3 de España, 1 de Filipinas y 1 de Italia), a la Coordinadora de las monjas brasileñas y a las representantes del Caribe y de los Estados Unidos, a un encuentro que se realizó en el Centro Internacional San Alberto (CISA) de Roma, del 3 al 5 de febrero. Ante todo, esta asamblea ha sido una buena ocasión para conocer la realidad de cada federación y de los monasterios no federados, así como para fomentar la comunicación y la comunión entre las monjas, los monasterios y el resto de la Familia carmelitana. En este sentido fueron aceptadas y mejoradas las propuestas del Secretariado General para las Monjas presentadas por Sor Mª Elena Tolentino (ver citoc-online 112/2014). Además, las 15 participantes, a partir de la conferencia de Sor Martina Simeone (SUT), compartieron la experiencia y los principales temas surgidos durante el Congreso celebrado en el Vaticano. En estas jornadas hubo otros dos momentos importantes: uno, el encuentro con la Postuladora General, Giovanna Brizi, que presentó las causas en curso que afectan a las monjas, y ofreció directrices a seguir en caso de que se desee iniciar nuevas causas; y otro, el encuentro con el Prior General, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, el cual, además de compartir con las participantes algunos temas, eventos e iniciativas en el seno de la Orden, animó a continuar este itinerario de comunión. Durante las sesiones de trabajo se tomaron dos decisiones importantes: celebrar cada tres años la asamblea de las Federales y de las representantes de los monasterios no federados; y concretar el modo de proceder para la renovación de las Constituciones de las monjas. Al final del encuentro, el P. General entregó al Prior del CISA, Míceál O’Neill, O.Carm., la máquina de escribir que el P. B.F.M. Xiberta (en proceso de beatificación) usó durante muchos años y con la que escribió no sólo sus tratados de teología, sino también un centenar de cartas a las monjas.

Assemblea delle Madri Federali e delle rappresentanti dei monasteri non federati.
Approfittando del congresso delle Federali di tutti gli Ordini religiosi, organizzato dalla Congregazione per la Vita Consacrata al termine dell’anno dedicato ai consacrati, le 5 Federali carmelitane (3 della Spagna, 1 delle Filippine e 1 dell’Italia), insieme alla Coordinatrice delle monache brasiliane e alle rappresentanti dei monasteri del Caribe e degli Stati Uniti, sono state invitate dal Delegato Generale ad un incontro che si è svolto dal 3 al 5 febbraio presso il Centro Internazionale Sant’Alberto (CISA), in Roma. Questa assemblea è stata prima di tutto una buona occasione per conoscere la realtà di ogni federazione e dei monasteri che non sono federati e per promuovere la comunicazione e la comunione tra le monache, e tra i monasteri e il resto della Famiglia Carmelitana. In questo senso sono state accolte e migliorate le proposte del Segretariato Generale per le Monache presentate da Sr. M. Elena Tolentino (BUR) (vedi citoc-online 112/2014). Inoltre le 15 partecipanti hanno condiviso l’esperienza e i punti principali emersi durante il Congresso in Vaticano a partire dalla relazione di Sr. M. Martina Simeone (SUT). Altri due momenti importanti sono stati l’incontro con la Postulatrice Generale, Giovanna Brizi, che ha presentato le cause in corso che riguardano le monache e ha indicato come procedere nel caso si vogliano iniziare nuove cause, e l’incontro con il Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, che, oltre a condividere alcuni temi, eventi e iniziative all’interno dell’Ordine, ha incoraggiato a continuare questo cammino di comunione. Durante le sessioni di lavoro sono state prese due decisioni importanti: la celebrazione ogni tre anni dell’assemblea delle Federali e delle rappresentanti dei monasteri non federati; il modo di procedere circa l’aggiornamento delle Costituzioni delle monache. Alla fine dell’incontro, il Priore Generale ha consegnato al Priore del CISA, Míceál O’Neill, O.Carm., la macchina da scrivere usata per anni per il P. B.F.M. Xiberta, O.Carm. (in processo di beatificazione) e con la quale ha scritto non soltanto i suoi trattati teologici ma anche centinaia di lettere alle monache.
