Carmelite Support for the Paris Agreement
Having discussed the document with Fr. Eduardo Agosta Scarel, O.Carm., an expert in variations of climate and climate change, the Prior General, Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., on behalf of the Carmelite Order, signed the Interfaith Climate Change Statement which will be given to the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Mogens Lykketoft, in New York, this coming 18th of April. The statement insists on the necessity to follow up on the statements and proposals of the Paris Agreement in relation to ecology and the integrity of creation. Several religious leaders signed this document which underlines the importance of the moment in which we live and the need for a serious commitment on the part of the political leaders, as well as the great religious families in this matter. We note that the Carmelite ONG at the United Nations took an active part in the Climate Summit in Paris (COP2) which took place in December, 2015. At that summit, the participants produced the “Universal Agreement on Climate Change”.

Apoyo carmelita al Tratado de París
Tras estudiar el documento con el P. Eduardo Agosta Scarel, O.Carm., experto en variabilidad del clima y cambio climático, el Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., ha firmado en nombre de la Orden Carmelita el llamado Interfaith Climate Change Statement (documento interreligioso sobre el cambio climático) que se entregará al Presidente de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, Mogens Lykketoft en Nueva York el próximo día 18 de abril y en el que se insiste en la necesidad de llevar a cabo los postulados del “acuerdo de París” en materia de ecología y cuidado de la creación. Numerosos líderes religiosos han firmado este documento en el que se señala la importancia del momento histórico que vivimos y la necesidad de un compromiso serio por parte de los gobernantes, pero también por parte de las grandes familias religiosas en este sentido. Se da el caso de que la ONG Carmelita ante las Naciones Unidas participó activamente en la “Cumbre del clima” de París (COP21) que se celebró en diciembre de 2015. En dicha cumbre, los participantes elaboraron el “Acuerdo universal sobre el cambio climático”.

Sostegno carmelitano al trattato di Parigi
Dopo averlo studiato insieme a P. Eduardo Agosta Scarel, O.Carm., esperto in cambiamenti climatici, il Priore Generale, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., ha firmato a nome dell’Ordine Carmelitano il documento Interfaith Climate Change Statement (Dichiarazione Interreligiosa sul cambio climatico) che sarà consegnato al Presidente dell’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite, Mogens Lykketoft, a New York il prossimo 18 Aprile. Nel suddetto documento si insiste nella necessità di portare avanti i punti elaborati nell’Accordo di Parigi in materia di ecologia e salvaguardia del creato. Molti leader religiosi hanno firmato questo documento, nel quale si evidenzia l’importanza del momento storico che stiamo vivendo e la necessità di un impegno serio da parte di chi governa, impegno che deve essere anche condiviso dalle grandi famiglie religiose. La ONG Carmelitana presso le Nazioni Unite ha partecipato attivamente al Summit di Parigi sui cambiamenti climatici (COP21) che si è tenuto in dicembre 2015; in questo summit i partecipanti hanno elaborato il cosiddetto “Accordo universale sul cambiamento climatico”.
