The 88th Assembly of the Union of Superiors General
From the recent 23rd to the 25th of November, the 88th Assembly of the USG (Union of Superiors General) took place at the Salesianum in Rome. The main theme of the gathering was “The Fruitfulness of the Prophetic in Religious Life”. Talks were given by Fr. Bruno Cadoré OP., Master General of the Dominican Order (who coordinated the topics), Fr.Michael Perry, OFM., Minister General of the Franciscans, and our Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., who spoke about the challenges in the leadership of Religious life today in view of ministry both “ad intra” and “ad extra”.
The morning of Friday, the 25th was entirely taken up with a meeting with Pope Francis in what is known as the Synod Hall. The meeting took the form of an open dialogue with the Holy Father who was asked a number of questions about prophesy in Religious Life. Just as it was three years ago, an official summary of this study day will be written by Fr. Antonio Spadaro, S.J., and will published in a variety of languages.

Beforehand, (on the 22nd of November) the Superiors General of mendicant orders met, on the invitation of Fr. Saverio Cannintrà, OCD, the Provost General of the Discalced Carmelites, and the representative of the mendicant orders. In that meeting a number of questions relating to the process of writing and new Mutuae Relationes document, considering the most recent documents for the Vatican Congregation (CIVCSA)  on the subject of cloistered women and other notes of interest to our orders.

88ª Asamblea de la Unión de Superiores Generales
Los pasados días 23 al 25 de noviembre tuvo lugar en el Salesianum de Roma la 88ª Asamblea semestral de la USG (Unión de Superiores Generales). El tema central de la misma ha sido “la fecundidad de la profecía” de la Vida Religiosa. En la misma han intervenido, entre otros, el P. Bruno Cadoré OP., Maestro General de los Dominicos (que ha coordinado los temas), el P. Michael Perry, OFM., Ministro General de los Franciscanos y el Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., que tuvo una ponencia sobre algunos retos en la animación de la Vida religiosa hoy en vista a la misión tanto “ad intra” como “ad extra”.
La mañana del viernes 25 estuvo dedicada por entero al encuentro con el Papa Francisco en la llamada “sala del Sínodo”. El encuentro consistió en un diálogo abierto con el Santo Padre a quien se formularon una serie de preguntas en relación con el tema de la profecía de la Vida Religiosa. Como hace tres años, el resumen oficial de esta jornada de estudio será elaborado por el P. Antonio Spadaro, SJ y será publicado en diversas lenguas.

Con anterioridad (el 22 de noviembre) se habían reunido los Superiores Generales de las órdenes mendicantes, convocados por el P. Saverio Cannistrà, OCD., Prepósito General de los Carmelitas Descalzos y representante de dichas órdenes. En este encuentro se abordaron algunas cuestiones relacionadas con el proceso de elaboración de un nuevo documento “Mutuae Relationes”, con los últimos documentos de la Congregación vaticana (CIVCSVA) sobre las monjas de clausura y con otras cuestiones de interés para nuestras órdenes.

88ª Assemblea della Unione dei Superiori Generali
Dal 23 al 25 novembre si è svolta al Salesianum di Roma l’88a Assemblea semestrale della USG (Unione dei Superiori Generali). Il tema centrale è stato il seguente: “La fecondità della profezia” della vita religiosa. Tra gli altri, hanno parlato P. Bruno Cadoré OP, Ministro Generale dei Domenicani (che ha curato l’organizzazione dei temi), P. Michael Perry OFM, Ministro Generale dei Francescani, e il Priore Generale, Fernando Millán Romeral, O. Carm., che ha presentato alcune sfide nell’animazione della vita religiosa di oggi in vista della missione sia “ad intra” che “ad extra”.
L’intera mattinata di venerdì 25 novembre è stata dedicata all’incontro con Papa Francesco nella cosiddetta “Aula del Sinodo”. L’incontro è consistito in un aperto dialogo con il Santo Padre al quale è stata indirizzata una serie di domande in relazione al tema della profezia nella vita religiosa. Come tre anni fa, la sintesi ufficiale di questa giornata di studio sarà elaborata da P. Antonio Spadaro, SJ e poi pubblicata in varie lingue.

Precedentemente, il 22 novembre, si sono incontrati i Superiori Generali degli Ordini Mendicanti, convocati da P. Saverio Cannistrà OCD, Preposito Generale dei Carmelitani Scalzi e rappresentante dei suddetti Ordini. Durante l’incontro sono state affrontate alcune questioni inerenti il processo di elaborazione di un nuovo documento “Mutuae Relationes”, gli ultimi documenti della Congregazione vaticana (CIVCSVA) sulle monache di clausura e altri temi d’interesse per i nostri Ordini.
