Activities of the Prior General
From the 14th to the 16th of October, the Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., took part in the meeting of the General Superiors of the Carmelite Congregations of women affiliated to the Order, which was held in Focene, Rome (Citoc 86/2016). In his address he spoke about the place and the importance of these congregations within the Carmelite Family and offered some challenges for future reflection.
On the 3rd and 4th of November, he took part in the 7th Seminar of “Textos para un Milenio”, that took place in the rooms of the Carmelite Parish of Ayala in Madrid. The theme of the meeting was, “La santidad vista por fuera, vivida por dentro” (Holiness, seen from outside, lived from within). In addition to the top-level speakers, there was also the launch of the new version in Spanish of the “Forty Days” of St. Mary Magdalene de’Pazzi.
After taking part in the course for formation directors that was held in Batu (Indonesia) in November (Citoc 92/2016), the Prior General visited the Indonesian Carmelites who live in Hong Kong, working in the parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and in the Shek-O retreat house. As part of his visit, he met with the Cardinal Archbishop of Hong Kong, John Tong Hon, who warmly thanked him for the presence of Carmelites in his diocese.
On the 14th of December, in the company of the General Curia, he visited the Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas in Rome. There he offered some reflections on a  possible Carmelite reading of the encyclical, Laudato sì.
Over these months, the Prior General has visited monasteries in Batu (Indonesia), Madrid (Spain), Ravenna and Sogliano al Rubicone (Italy). In this last monastery there are three of the nuns who had to leave the monastery of Camerino that was affected by the 13th of Novembre earthquale. The rest of the community is now in the monastery of Montegnacco.

Actividades del Prior General
Los pasados días 14 al 16 de octubre el Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., participó en el encuentro de las Madres Generales de las congregaciones femeninas carmelitas de vida activa agregadas a la Orden que tuvo lugar en Focene, Roma (Citoc 86/2016). En su conferencia habló sobre el sentido y la importancia de estas congregaciones en el seno de la familia carmelita y propuso algunos retos para nuestra reflexión en el futuro.
Los días 3 y 4 de noviembre participó en el VII seminario “Textos para un Milenio” que tuvo lugar en los salones de la parroquia carmelita de la calle Ayala de Madrid y que llevó por tema “La santidad vista por fuera, vivida por dentro”. Además de las conferencias de varios ponentes de gran altura, en el seminario fue presentada la nueva versión en castellano del libro “Los cuarenta días” (“I quaranta giorni”) de Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi.
Asimismo, tras participar en el curso para formadores que tuvo lugar en Batu (Indonesia) en noviembre (Citoc 92/2016), el Prior General visitó a los carmelitas indonesios que viven en Hong Kong, realizando su ministerio en la Parroquia de Santa Teresita y en la casa de ejercicios de Shek-O. Durante su visita se entrevistó con el Cardenal Arzobispo de Hong Kong, Monseñor John Tong Hon, quien agradeció muy cordialmente la presencia de los carmelitas en su diócesis.
El 14 de diciembre, acompañado de varios miembros de la Curia General, visitó el “Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas” en Roma. Allí tuvo una pequeña conferencia sobre el tema de una posible lectura carmelita de la Encíclica “Laudato Si”.
En estos meses el Prior General ha visitado los monasterios de Batu (Indonesia), Madrid (España), Rávena y Sogliano al Rubicone (Italia). En este último se encuentran tres de las hermanas que tuvieron que abandonar el monasterio de Camerino a causa del terremoto del 13 de noviembre. El resto de la comunidad se encuentra en el monasterio de Montegnacco.

Attività del Priore Generale
Dal 14 al 16 ottobre il Priore Generale, Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., ha partecipato all’incontro delle Madri Generali delle congregazioni femminili carmelitane di vita attiva aggregate all’Ordine, che si è svolto a Focene, Roma (Citoc 86/2016). Nella sua conferenza ha parlato del significato e dell’importanza di queste congregazioni in seno alla famiglia carmelitana, e ha proposto alcune sfide per la nostra riflessione futura.
Nei giorni 3 e 4 novembre ha partecipato al VII seminario “Textos para un Milenio”, che ha avuto luogo nei locali della parrocchia carmelitana della “calle Ayala” di Madrid, e che ha avuto per tema: “La santità vista da fuori, vissuta da dentro”. Oltre alle conferenze di vari relatori di gran levatura, durante il seminario è stata presentata la nuova versione in spagnolo del libro “I quaranta giorni” di Santa Maria Maddalena de’ Pazzi.
Inoltre, dopo aver partecipato al corso per i formatori, a Batu (Indonesia), a novembre (Citoc 92/2016), il Priore Generale ha visitato i carmelitani indonesiani che vivono a Hong Kong e che svolgono il loro ministero nella Parrocchia di Santa Teresina e nella casa de esercizi di Shek-O. Durante la visita ha incontrato il Cardinale Arcivescovo di Hong Kong, Mons. John Tong Hon, il quale ha ringraziato molto cordialmente per la presenza dei carmelitani nella sua diocesi.
Il 14 dicembre, accompagnato da vari membri della Curia Generale, ha visitato il “Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas” a Roma. Lì ha dato una breve conferenza sul tema di una possibile lettura carmelitana dell’Enciclica “Laudato Si”.
In questi mesi il Priore Generale ha visitato i monasteri di Batu (Indonesia), Madrid (Spagna), Ravenna e Sogliano al Rubicone (Italia). In quest’ultimo si trovano tre delle Monache che dovettero abbandonare il monastero di Camerino a causa del terremoto del 13 novembre. Il resto della comunità si trova nel monastero di Montegnacco.
