Meeting of the Commission for Liturgy and Prayer
The sixth meeting of the Commission for Liturgy and Prayer was held in the Curia from Thursday, September 28 until Saturday, September 30, 2017. Present for all sessions were Fathers Michael Farrugia, Procurator General and Chairman (Curia), Edmondo Caruana (Mel), Giovanni Grosso (Ita), Mario Esposito (SEL) Secretary, and Robert Pius Manik (Indo). Unable to attend was Father Giuseppe Midili (Ita) due to commitments at the Vicariate of Rome.
The Commission reviewed the responses to the questionnaire sent out to the Order in preparation for the International Carmelite Liturgical Congress planned for Sassone, Rome, Italy on April 16-20, 2018. The response to the questionnaire was quite good, representing more than 60% of the Order, and some additional responses have been received. These answers are being collated in preparation for the Congress and produced interesting results about the thoughts of the friars on this topic. On Saturday, the Commission members visited the Cistercian Abbey of Casamari, outside of Rome, where the members of the Congress will go for Mass, a tour and to hear from the Abbot about liturgy and the life of prayer.
The Commission dedicated time to an update on the O. Carm. Liturgical Calendar waiting for final approval by the Congregation for Divine Worship, to the new Rite for the Third Order Lay Carmelites already translated into the three official languages of the Order and to be presented for approval. Considerable time was also dedicated to completing the revised rites for simple and solemn profession within the Order. These texts will now be translated so they can reviewed again before being submitted to the General Council. The supplement to the Carmelite Office and Lectionary are also well underway. The next meeting of the Commission will be held before the Carmelite Liturgical Congress in April 2018. A mailing will be sent to the Order soon about the Congress.

Reunión de la Comisión para la Liturgia y la Oración
Del jueves 28 de septiembre al sábado 30 del mismo mes tuvo lugar la sexta reunión de la Comisión para la Liturgia y la Oración. En todas las sesiones estuvieron presentes los Padres Michael Farrugia, Procurador General y presidente (Curia), Edmondo Caruana (Mel), Giovanni Grosso (Ita), Mario Esposito (SEL), secretario, y Robert Pius Manik (Indo). El P. Giuseppe Midili no pudo asistir debido a sus compromisos con el Vicariato de la Diócesis de Roma.
La Comisión consideró las respuestas al cuestionario enviado para la preparación del Congreso Carmelitano Internacional sobre la Liturgia, previsto para los días 16-20 de abril de 2018 en Sassone, Roma. Más del 60% de la Orden ha enviado sus propias respuestas, que son bastante buenas; también se han recibido algunas respuestas adicionales. Para preparar el referido Congreso se está procediendo a la recogida tales respuestas, que han dado resultados interesantes sobre la visión de los hermanos en este ámbito. El sábado, la Comisión visitó la abadía cisterciense de Casamari, que dista poco de Roma. Este día, los participantes en el Congreso celebraron allí la Eucaristía en y realizaron una visita guiada; también escucharon una intervención del abad sobre la Liturgia y sobre la vida de oración.
La Comisión dedicó un tiempo al Calendario litúrgico actualizado, del cual aún se espera la aprobación por parte de la Congregación para el Culto Divino, y al nuevo Ritual para la Tercera Orden, que ya ha sido traducido a las tres lenguas oficiales de la Orden y que ha de presentarse para la aprobación. También dedicó un tiempo notorio al Rito revisado de la profesión simple y solemne en la Orden. Ahora, estos textos serán traducidos y, tras una ulterior revisión, serán presentados al Consejo General. También va adelante el trabajo referente al suplemento para la Liturgia de las Horas y para el Leccionario. La próxima reunión de la Comisión tendrá lugar el mes de abril de 2018, antes del Congreso Litúrgico, sobre el cual en breve se enviarán algunas informaciones.

Incontro della Commissione per la liturgia e la preghiera
Da giovedì 28 settembre a sabato 30 settembre 2017 si è tenuta la sesta riunione della Commissione per la Liturgia e la Preghiera. Sono stati presenti a tutte le sessioni i Padri Michael Farrugia, Procuratore Generale e preside (Curia), Edmondo Caruana (Mel), Giovanni Grosso (Ita), Mario Esposito (SEL), segretario, e Robert Pius Manik (Indo). P. Giuseppe Midili non ha potuto partecipare a causa di impegni presso il Vicariato della Diocesi di Roma.
La Commissione ha preso in esame le risposte al questionario che è stato inviato in preparazione al Congresso Carmelitano Internazionale sulla Liturgia, previsto dal 16 al 20 aprile 2018 a Sassone, Roma, Italia. Più del 60% dell’Ordine ha inviato le proprie risposte, che sono state abbastanza buone; sono state ricevute anche alcune risposte aggiuntive. In preparazione al suddetto Congresso, si sta procedendo alla raccolta di tali risposte, che ha prodotto interessanti risultati circa la visione dei frati su questo ambito.
Nella giornata di sabato i membri della Commissione hanno visitato l'abbazia cistercense di Casamari, poco lontano da Roma. In questo luogo i partecipanti al Congresso celebreranno l'Eucaristia, svolgeranno una visita guidata e ascolteranno un intervento dell'abate sui temi della Liturgia e della vita di preghiera.
La Commissione ha dedicato del tempo al Calendario liturgico aggiornato, di cui si attende ancora l’approvazione da parte della Congregazione per il Culto Divino, al nuovo Rituale per il Terz’Ordine, che è già stato tradotto nelle tre lingue ufficiali dell’Ordine e che deve essere presentato per l’approvazione. Si è dedicato anche un tempo significativo al Rito rivisto per la professione semplice e solenne nell’Ordine. Questi testi verranno ora tradotti e, dopo un’ulteriore revisione, saranno presentati al Consiglio Generale. Sta procedendo anche il lavoro concernente il supplemento per la Liturgia delle Ore e per il Lezionario.
Il prossimo incontro della Commissione si terrà nel mese di aprile 2018, prima del Congresso Liturgico, su cui saranno inviate a breve alcune informazioni.
