News from the Carmelite monasteries
On the 22nd of August, the first monastery in Mozambique was opened, dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, located next to the formation house of the Carmelite friars. This foundation, the desire of the monastery of Moncorvo (Portugal), is formed by two Portuguese nuns and three nuns from the Kenyan monastery of Machakos; it became a reality thanks to the Province of Pernambuco, responsible for the Mozambican mission, that donated the land, and to the financial contribution of the General Commissariat of Portugal. The inauguration celebration, led by the Archbishop of Maputo, Francisco Chimoio, OFMCap, was attended by the Prior General, Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, the General Delegate for Carmelite Nuns, Fr. Mario Alfarano, the Councillor General for Africa, Fr. Conrad Mutizamhepo, the Provincial of Pernambuco, Fr. Sormani Barbosa, the Commissary of Portugal, Fr. Ricardo Rainho, the Superior of the Mozambican mission, Fr. Altamiro Tenorio da Paz, along with other priests, religious men and women, and numerous faithful.
In the same vein, on the 31st of July, the Holy See approved the new foundation of Kitui, in Kenya. The foundresses, all from the monastery of Machakos, will move to the new monastery as soon as the construction, which the bishop of Kitui is situating next to the new diocesan shrine, is completed.
Also on the 31st of July, the Holy See approved the entrance of the "Mater Unitatis" monastery of Montiglio, in Italy, into the Federation of St. Maria Maddalena de 'Pazzi. This monastery, the desire of Card. Pellegrino and of Sr. Maria Paola of the Holy Spirit, was founded in 1971 by the community of Florence and continues to have a strong connection with the spirituality and teachings of the Florentine saint.

El pasado 22 de agosto se inauguró el primer monasterio carmelita de Mozambique, dedicado a la Virgen de Fátima y situado junto a la casa de formación de los frailes carmelitas. Esta fundación, propuesta por el monasterio de Moncorvo (Portugal), consta de dos monjas portuguesas y tres monjas del monasterio keniano de Machakos; su realización también ha sido posible gracias a la Provincia de Pernambuco, responsable de la misión mozambiqueña, que ha proporcionado el terreno, y a la contribución económica del Comisariado General de Portugal. A la ceremonia de inauguración, que fue presidida por el arzobispo de Maputo, Mons. Francisco Chimoio, OFMCap, asistieron el Prior General, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, el Delegado General para las Monjas, P. Mario Alfarano, el Consejero General para África, P. Conrad Mutizamhepo, el Provincial de Pernambuco, P. Sormani Barbosa, el Comisario de Portugal, P. Ricardo Rainho, el Superior de la misión mozambiqueña, P. Altamiro Tenorio da Paz, junto con otros sacerdotes, religiosos, religiosas y numerosos fieles.
El 31 de julio, la Santa Sede ha aprobado la nueva fundación de Kitui, Kenya. Las fundadoras, procedentes del monasterio de Machakos, se trasladarán cuando se haya acabado la construcción del monasterio, que el obispo de Kitui está realizando junto al nuevo gran santuario diocesano.
También el 31 de julio la Santa Sede ha aprobado el ingreso del Monasterio “Mater Unitatis” de Montiglio, Italia, en la Federación Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi. Este monasterio, propiciado por el Cardenal Pellegrino y por Sor María Paola del Espíritu Santo, fue fundado por el de Florencia en 1971 y mantiene un fuerte vínculo co

Il 22 agosto è stato inaugurato il primo monastero del Mozambico, dedicato alla Madonna di Fatima, situato accanto alla casa di formazione dei frati carmelitani. Questa fondazione, voluta dal monastero di Moncorvo (Portogallo), è formata da 2 monache portoghesi e 3 monache del monastero keniota di Machakos; inoltre, è stata possibile realizzarla anche grazie alla Provincia di Pernambuco, responsabile della missione mozambicana, che ha donato il terreno, e al contributo economico del Commissariato Generale del Portogallo. Alla celebrazione di inaugurazione, presieduta dall'arcivescovo di Maputo, Mons. Francisco Chimoio, OFMCap, erano presenti il Priore Generale, P. Fernando Millán Romeral, il Delegato Generale per le Monache, P. Mario Alfarano, il Consigliere Generale per l'Africa, P. Conrad Mutizamhepo, il Provinciale di Pernambuco, P. Sormani Barbosa, il Commissario del Portogallo, P. Ricardo Rainho, il Superiore della missione mozambicana, P. Altamiro Tenorio da Paz, insieme ad altri sacerdoti, religiosi e religiose e numerosi fedeli.
Il 31 luglio, invece, la Santa Sede ha approvato la nuova fondazione di Kitui, in Kenya. Le fondatrici, provenienti dal monastero di Machakos, si trasferiranno appena verrà completata la costruzione del monastero che il vescovo di Kitui sta realizzando accanto al nuovo grande santuario diocesano.
Sempre il 31 luglio, la Santa Sede ha approvato l'ingresso del Monastero "Mater Unitatis" di Montiglio, in Italia, nella Federazione S. Maria Maddalena de' Pazzi. Questo Monastero, voluto dal card. Pellegrino e da Sr. Maria Paola dello Spirito Santo, fu fondato nel 1971 da quello di Firenze e continua ad avere un forte legame con la spiritualità e gli insegnamenti della santa fiorentina.
