CELEBRATING AT HOME - BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

We have been called by God to be the Church, the Body of Christ in this world.

We are not a building, but a people, gathered and grounded in the Word of God, the love of Christ, and the unity of the Holy Spirit.

Lord Jesus, you are the Bread of Life, the Wine of Compassion, the Word made flesh.

It seems a bit odd to be celebrating the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ at a time when so many cannot attend Mass and receive the Eucharist. Yet I think that this time has actually been a blessing for us.

We are very used to thinking about the Real Presence of Jesus being in the Blessed Sacrament. But the real presence of Christ is also in the community when it gathers in his name to feast on the Word of Scripture, to recall what Jesus said and did at the Last Supper (not only the words over bread and wine, but also the washing of the feet), when it shares the food of the Eucharist together, when it goes out and continues to break and pour out that food in acts of loving kindness, in soothing and nourishing words which brings others to life.

CELEBRANDO EN FAMILIA - EL SANTÍSIMO CUERPO Y SANGRE DE CRISTO

Hemos sido llamados por Dios para ser la Iglesia, el Cuerpo de Cristo en medio del mundo.

No somos un edificio, sino un pueblo, reunido y reconciliado con la palabra de Dios, en el amor de cristo y en la unidad del Espíritu Santo.

Señor Jesús, tu eres el Pan de la Vida, el Vino de la Compasión, la Palabra hecha Carne.

Es un poco extraño celebrar la fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo en un momento en que muchos no podéis asistir a la Misa y recibir la Eucaristía. Sin embargo, creo que esta vez puede ser una bendición para todos nosotros.

Estamos muy acostumbrados a pensar que la Presencia Real de Jesús está en el Santísimo Sacramento. Pero, la presencia real de Cristo, también, está en la comunidad cuando se reúne en su nombre para escuchar la Palabra de las Escrituras, recordando lo que Jesús dijo y realizó en la Última Cena (la bendición sobre el pan y el vino y el lavatorio de los pies), cuando juntos comparten la Eucaristía, cuando salen y continúan compartiendo la eucaristía con actos de amorosa bondad, con palabras de ternura que alimentan la vida de los demás.

CELEBRANDO IN CASA - SANTISSIMO CORPO E SANGUE DI CRISTO

Siamo stati chiamati da Dio ad essere Chiesa, il Corpo di Cristo in questo mondo.

Non siamo un edificio, ma un popolo, riunito e radicato nella Parola di Dio, nell’Amore di Cristo, nell’Unità dello Spirito Santo.

Signore Gesù, tu sei il Pane della vita, il Vino della misericordia, la Parola fatta carne.

Sembra un po’ strano celebrare la Festa del Corpo e del Sangue di Cristo in un momento in cui così tante persone non possono partecipare alla Messa e ricevere l'Eucaristia. Eppure, penso che questa volta sia stata davvero una benedizione per noi.

Siamo molto abituati a pensare alla presenza reale di Gesù nel Santissimo Sacramento. Ma la vera presenza di Cristo si trova anche nella comunità quando si riunisce nel suo nome al banchetto della Parola, per ricordare ciò che Gesù ha detto e fatto durante l'Ultima Cena (non solo le parole sul pane e sul vino, ma anche la lavanda dei piedi), quando condivide il cibo dell'Eucaristia, quando esce e continua a spezzare e riversare quel cibo in atti di bontà e d’amore, in parole lenitive e nutrienti che danno vita agli altri.
