CELEBRATING AT HOME - ASCENSION SUNDAY

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

As you use this prayer know that the Carmelites will be remembering in our prayer all the members of our family at this time.

In Mark’s Gospel the Kingdom is not something yet to come, it is a present reality. It is the presence and action (reign) of God among his people. That may not always been readily seen, but it is there none the less.

Last Sunday Mark used two parables to talk about the reality of the Kingdom. Over the next few Sundays he begins to talk about the mystery of the Kingdom present in Jesus and what living in the Kingdom requires. None Mark’s stories are about about some awesome display of power. Mark’s stories make it clear that Jesus is about saving human beings, healing them and calming hearts disturbed by life’s storms. In Jesus is the power of life and liberation.

CELEBRANDO EN FAMILIA - EL DOMINGO DE LA ASCENSIÓN

Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo:

Recordad que mientras vosotros oráis en familia los carmelitas os recordaremos a todos vosotros.

El Reino en el Evangelio de Marcos no es algo que está por venir; al contrario, es una realidad presente: es la presencia y la acción de Dios en medio de su pueblo. Puede que no se vea siempre con facilidad, pero está ahí de todos modos.

El domingo pasado, Marcos utilizó dos parábolas para hablar de la realidad del Reino. En los próximos domingos comenzará a hablar del misterio del Reino presente en Jesús y de lo que se necesita para vivir en el Reino. Ninguno de los relatos de Marcos presenta un despliegue de poder impresionante. Al contrario, los relatos de Marcos dejan claro que Jesús trata de salvar a los seres humanos, de curarlos y de calmar los corazones perturbados por las tormentas de la vida. En Jesús está el poder de la vida y la liberación. Las tormentas repentinas en el lago de Galilea eran bien conocidas y siguen ocurriendo hoy en día.

CELEBRANDO IN CASA - L’ASCENSIONE DEL SIGNORE

Cari fratelli e sorelle in Cristo,

Mentre pregate, sappiate che in questo periodo i Carmelitani vi ricordano nelle loro preghiere, così come tutti i membri della famiglia carmelitana.

Nel Vangelo di Marco il Regno non è qualcosa prossima a venire, bensì una realtà già presente. È la presenza e l’opera (il regno) di Dio in mezzo al suo popolo. Ciò può non apparire sempre chiaro, eppure è realmente presente.

Domenica scorsa Marco ha riportato due parabole per illustrare la realtà del Regno. Nelle prossime domeniche ci parlerà del mistero del Regno presente in Gesù e di ciò che il Regno stesso richiede a chi lo accoglie. Non troviamo, in Marco, eclatanti manifestazioni di potenza. Piuttosto, l’evangelista mostra che a Gesù interessa salvare gli uomini, guarirli, e rassicurare il loro cuore sballottato dalle tempeste della vita. La forza di Gesù sta nel dare vita e liberazione.
