Celebrating at Home: A Royal Shepherd
Solemnity of Christ the King

On this last Sunday of the Church’s year we always celebrate the Feast of Christ, the Universal King.

The first reading from the prophet, Daniel, speaks of the coming of one who will rule in the name of God in an eternal kingdom. The second reading from the Book of the Apocalypse speaks of Christ as the "faithful witness" to God and "ruler of the kings of the earth." Here is a king who loves his people and sheds his own blood to save them.

The Gospel comes from the Passion of Jesus in St John’s Gospel. It is Jesus’ dialogue with Pilate about his kingship and the nature of his kingdom. Jesus is anything but a traditional king. This King reigns, not from a golden throne, but a cross of rough wood ...

Celebrando en Familia: Un Rey Pastor
Solemnidad de Cristo Rey 

En este último domingo del año litúrgico, celebramos la solemnidad de Cristo Rey.

La primera lectura del profeta Daniel habla de la llegada de uno que gobernará en nombre de Dios en un reino eterno. La segunda lectura del libro del Apocalipsis habla de Cristo como «testigo fiel» de Dios y «soberano de los reyes de la tierra». He aquí un rey que ama a su pueblo y derrama su propia sangre para salvarlo.

El Evangelio es un fragmento de la Pasión de Jesús del Evangelio de San Juan. Es el diálogo de Jesús con Pilato sobre su realeza y la naturaleza de su reino.

Jesús es todo menos un rey tradicional. Este Rey reina, no desde un trono de oro, sino desde una cruz de madera tosca ...

Celebrando in Casa: Un pastore regale
Solemnità di Nostro Signore Gesù Cristo Re 

In quest’ultima domenica dell’anno liturgico celebriamo sempre la festa di Cristo, Re dell’universo.

La prima lettura dal profeta Daniele parla della venuta di colui che regnerà in nome di Dio in un regno eterno. La seconda lettura dal libro dell’Apocalisse parla di Cristo come ‘testimone fedele’ di Dio e ‘sovrano dei re della terra’. 

Ecco un re che ama il suo popolo e versa il proprio sangue per salvarlo.

Il Vangelo è tratto dalla Passione di Gesù nel Vangelo di San Giovanni. È il dialogo di Gesù con Pilato sulla sua regalità e sulla natura del suo regno.

Gesù è tutt’altro che un re tradizionale. Questo re regna, non da un trono d’oro, ma da una croce di legno grezzo ...
