Feast of St. Peter Thomas

Saint Peter Thomas joined the Carmelite Order when twenty years of age. He was Procurator General of the Order at the Papal Curia at Avignon and also an official preacher to the Curia there. In 1354, he was appointed bishop of Patti and Lipari.

He acted as papal legate to the kings and emperors of his time, seeking to promote peace and to re-establish unity with the Eastern Churches.

Fiesta de S. Pedro Tomás, obispo

A la edad de veinte años S. Pedro Tómas entró en la Orden del Carmen. Habiendo ejercido el oficio de Procurador General de la Orden ante la Curia pontificia en Aviñón y después de predicador apostólico, fue nombrado en 1354 obispo de Patti y Lípari.

Desempeñó las funciones de legado pontificio ante reyes y emperadores del tiempo con el objetivo de consolidar la paz y promover la unión con las Iglesias Orientales.

A vent'anni San Pier Tommaso entrò nell'Ordine del Carmelo. Esercitò l'ufficio di Procuratore Generale dell'Ordine presso la Curia papale ad Avignone e quello di predicatore apostolico, fu nominato nel 1354 vescovo di Patti e Lipari.

Svolse le funzioni di legato pontificio presso re e imperatori del tempo per consolidare la pace e promuovere l'unione con le Chiese Orientali.
