540th Anniversary of the Entrustment of the Parish S. Maria in Traspontina to the Carmelites

On Friday, November 15, the Carmelites will be celebrating the 540th anniversary of presence at S. Maria in Traspontina. Pope Innocent VIII gave responsibility for the church to the Carmelites in the bull Sacrosanctae et militantis Ecclesiae.

Wahpeton Carmelite Nuns and Friends Celebrate 70 Years

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, the community of Carmelite nuns in Wahpeton, North Dakota and their friends and benefactors gathered to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of their Carmel of Mary monastery. The actual date of the foundation is November 1—the Feast of All Saints.

Among those attending were a number of Lay Carmelites as well as school children who lectured, sang, and served at the altar. The church was full with over 150 adults and 80 students from the parish school attending. 

In his homily, Bishop Folda spoke about the original 7 founding sisters and of the many blessings the diocese and State of North Dakota have received through the prayers of the sisters. He said, “The sisters pray not only for us but with us, lifting our needs to God.”

Alfred Mizzi Foundation and Notarial Archives Foundation Join to Save Maltese Carmelite Library

In February 2022, a powerful storm hit the country of Malta. Small islands situated in the Mediterranean Sea, the country endured showers of hail and rain as well as winds at the beginning of the month. The historic Carmelite library in the Carmelite prior in Valletta, suffered severe damage. Besides numerous manuscripts and books being heavily damages, the wooden structure of the library itself was heavily damaged as well.

According to published reports, the Alfred Mizzi Foundation and the Notarial Archives Foundation have joined efforts to save the library. Since February 2024, the NAF and its team of volunteers have been carefully removing the books and manuscripts from the shelves of the library. This will allow the wooden library structure to undergo the necessary restoration as well as the books.

During the halftime period of the game, Mount Carmel honored a popular former teacher, Kevin Hansen, who died in 2015. Hansen was also the class valedictorian and Man of the Year of the Class of 1999 at Joliet Catholic.

Las monjas de Wahpeton y amigos celebran 70 años

El miércoles 6 de noviembre de 2024, la comunidad de monjas carmelitas de Wahpeton, Dakota del Norte, y sus amigos y bienhechores se reunieron para celebrar el 70 aniversario de la fundación de su monasterio Carmel of Mary. La fecha real de la fundación es el 1 de noviembre, fiesta de Todos los Santos.

La iglesia estaba llena con más de 150 adultos y 80 alumnos de la escuela parroquial. Entre los asistentes se encontraban varios Carmelitas Laicos, así como niños de la escuela que leyeron las lecturas de la misa, cantaron y sirvieron en el altar.

En su homilía, el Obispo Folda habló de las 7 hermanas fundadoras originales y de las muchas bendiciones que la diócesis y el Estado de Dakota del Norte han recibido gracias a las oraciones de las hermanas. Dijo: «Las hermanas rezan no sólo por nosotros, sino con nosotros, elevando nuestras necesidades a Dios».

La Fundación Alfred Mizzi y la Fundación de Archivos Notariales se unen para salvar la Biblioteca Carmelita de Malta

En febrero de 2022, una fuerte tormenta azotó el país de Malta. Pequeñas islas situadas en el mar Mediterráneo, el país soportó a principios de mes chubascos de granizo y lluvia, así como fuertes vientos. La histórica biblioteca carmelita, situada en el priorato carmelita de La Valeta, sufrió graves daños. Además de numerosos manuscritos y libros gravemente dañados, la estructura de madera de la propia biblioteca también sufrió graves daños. 

Según informaciones publicadas, la Alfred Mizzi Foundation y la Notarial Archives Foundation (NAF) han unido sus esfuerzos para salvar la biblioteca. Desde febrero de 2024, la NAF y su equipo de voluntarios han estado retirando cuidadosamente los libros y manuscritos de las estanterías de la biblioteca. Esto permitirá que la estructura de madera de la biblioteca se someta a la restauración necesaria, al igual que los libros.

Le monache carmelitane di Wahpeton e i loro amici festeggiano 70 anni di vita

Mercoledì 6 novembre 2024, la comunità delle monache carmelitane di Wahpeton, nel Nord Dakota, e i loro amici e benefattori si sono riuniti per celebrare il 70° anniversario della fondazione del suo monastero Carmel of Mary. La data effettiva della fondazione è il 1° novembre, festa di Tutti i Santi.

La chiesa era piena con oltre 150 adulti e 80 studenti della scuola parrocchiale. Tra i partecipanti c'erano anche alcuni carmelitani laici e bambini della scuola che hanno letto le letture della Messa, cantato e servito all'altare.

Nell'omelia, il vescovo, Mons. Folda, ha parlato delle 7 sorelle fondatrici e delle molte benedizioni che la diocesi e lo Stato del Nord Dakota hanno ricevuto grazie alle preghiere delle suore. Ha detto: “Le suore non pregano solo per noi, ma con noi, sollevando i nostri bisogni a Dio”.

La Fondazione Alfred Mizzi e la Fondazione Archivi Notarili si uniscono per salvare la biblioteca carmelitana maltese

Nel febbraio del 2022, una potente tempesta ha colpito il Paese di Malta. Piccola isola situata nel Mar Mediterraneo, all'inizio del mese Malta è stata colpita da grandine e pioggia e da forte venti. La storica biblioteca carmelitana nel priorato dei carmelitani a La Valletta ha subito gravi danni. Oltre a numerosi manoscritti e libri pesantemente danneggiati, anche la struttura in legno della biblioteca stessa è stata gravemente compromessa.

Secondo le notizie pubblicate, la Fondazione Alfred Mizzi e la Notarial Archives Foundation (Fondazione Archivi Notarili, NAF) hanno unito gli sforzi per salvare la biblioteca. Dal febbraio 2024, la NAF e il suo team di volontari stanno rimuovendo con cura i libri e i manoscritti dagli scaffali della biblioteca. In questo modo, oltre ai libri, anche la struttura lignea della biblioteca potrà essere sottoposta al necessario restauro.
