Memorial of St. Nuno Alvares Pereira -- November 6On November 6th we celebrate the memorial of St. Nuno Alvares Pereira. King John I selected Nuno to be "constable," that is commander-in-chief of the army of Portugal. Nuno led the Portuguese army to victory on various occasions up until the battle of Aljubarrota (August 14, 1385).
